Good Morning to you all

I have been looking through the info you have all sent me and just wondered who

Christopher Keane born 1903 25th December he is on
1939 Register Middlesex UK with Leo Keane and his wife Mary

I wondered if it is the Christopher Keane on the 1911 Census for Ireland
This Christopher Keane is wth his Father James Keane and Mother Catherine
Maybe they are Keane brothers
Living in England ?.
Thankyou
Olive

ArgyllGran Report 26 Aug 2018 14:22

Yes Christopher is Leo's brother, and is listed in both 1911 and 1939.

I posted his baptism record on page 2 of this thread, and the DOB is the same as in 1939.

In 1939 he was a labourer at a steel works.

I can't see his death definitively yet.

Maybe a possibility:

Deaths Dec 1943 (>99%)
Keane Christopher 35 Fulham 1a 388

Thankyou again
I thought maybe they were brothers
Would it be possible to find their immigration for the entry into England at all

As for their deaths maybe they went back to Ireland sometime

Yes I have read the Census and 1939 Register
Thankyou again
Sorry to keep asking questions

We're always delighted to answer questions!

No, there will be no record of their travel from Ireland to England - that doesn't count as immigration.

It may have been after Leo senior's marriage in 1936 - but of course he may have been in England already, and just travelled back to Ireland for the wedding.

Re the possible Fulham death of Christopher in 1943 -

in 1946 Leo senior and Mary are living at 42 Broomhouse Road, Fulham:

Leo Keane
in the London, England, Electoral Registers, 1832-1965
Name: Leo Keane
Year: 1946
County or Borough: Hammersmith and Fulham
Ward or Division/Constituency: Fulham East and West
Street address: 42 Broom Villa [mistranscription - actually Broomhouse Road ]

They're still there in 1965, along with young Leo, who is listed as a Service Voter:

Leo Keane Sr
in the London, England, Electoral Registers, 1832-1965
Name: Leo Keane Sr
Year: 1965
County or Borough: Fulham
Ward or Division/Constituency: Fulham
Street address: 42 Churchfield Mansions (mistranscribed - actually Broomhouse Road)
Reference Number: LCC/PER/B/3018

Thankyou once again
For the London Electorals Registers

It mentions Young Leo Keane who is listed as a Service Voter
Does that mean he was in the Forces

Thankyou

Online military records have a cut-off of 1921 for Eire, & 1922 for the UK. The latter are held by the MOD & cost £30 to be sent a copy.
It’s probably the same for the Eire Defence Forces.

Thankyou for your reply

I have been looking on the Census for Ireland
1911 and 1901 Census,
Which I have found it states only by luck
James Joseph Keane born 1870 Ish Ireland in the Prison Service
Would we be able to find any information
Bye for now
PS I wonder who his Mother and Father were

2. The British Army: The original records are all in the British National Archives in London (www.nationalarchives.gov.uk). Their Medal Card records are very useful for First World Ward servicemen. Surviving service records of the First World War are transcribed at www.ancestry.co.uk. Pre-1914 service and pension records are at www.findmypast.co.uk.

https://www.irishgenealogy.ie

Remember that that up to 70% of WW1 Records were destroyed during WW2 bombing.

There must be an email link or ‘contact us’ button somewhere to ask about Eire pre & post 1922 prison officer records.
Bear in mind that Partition took place in May 1921. It’s difficult to guess where the records ended up.

I don't see James Joseph's birth online, but if you were to buy a copy of his marriage record (posted on page 2 - on 25 Aug @ 16:22) it should at least give his father's name.

There's a record of a James Keane born in Dublin in 1871 - but no middle name.
I don't think it's him, but I'll post it just in case:

SR District/Reg Area - Dublin South
Birth of JAMES KEANE in 1871
Name JAMES KEANE
Date of Birth 1871
Group Registration ID 9695153
SR District/Reg Area Dublin South

22 Aug 1871 at 67 Grange Lane.
Father: John Keane, 67 Grange Lane, fitter.
Mother: Maria Keane, formerly Keenan.
Informant: Catherine Keenan, present at birth, 67 Grange Lane.

The record may possibly be at the main library in Luton - searchable by address and listing only residents aged 21 or over.
The Electoral Roll will not give you any info other than the names of people at the address
