Please could check the 1901 census for;

Margaret Ann Liliston, 1886
She was born in Sunderland but may have moved to Gateshead. I don't have a lot of information, I don't know her parents names. I have the birth record, but haven't been able to trace anymore information.

I would be gratefull for any information

Hi Julie

1901
53 Ward Street,South Bishopwearmouth,Durham
George Liliston Head 34 River police constable b Sunderland
Elizabth Ann Liliston Wife 31 b Cardiff,Glamorgan
Magaret Liliston Daur 15 b Sunderland
Ethel May Liliston Daur 13 b Sunderland
Georgina Liliston Daur 10 b Sunderland
Charles Liliston Father Widower 62 Dock Waterman b Ipswich

1891

I could not find George/Elizabeth on 1891 probably caught up in birth of youngest child.
Definitely the correct folks despite bizarre spelling and age of Grandad.

Thanks alot. You have been a great help!

Unfortunatly I have been chasing a phantom for a week. The orginally name I search for (which give me the name of Liliston) was incorrect and the name I should have been checking was Isabel (or Isabella - this was the source of my orginal mistake!!) Miller in Gateshead. However your information was very helpfully in me being able to rule out this line from my tree.

Thanks again.

Mary

Mary Report 26 Feb 2008 22:35

Hi Chris
The registration reference for the marriage is as follows:

Robert E P Rowe/Sheila E Barnes Dec Qtr 1965
Romsey 6B 1254.

To obtain further details you will need to purchase the certificate.

HI mary
I don't know if you remember or not but you tried about a week ago (20th Feb)to look up the White family for me,Sissie White c 1833 married to charles Smart c 1892 d 1917 in WW1 they married in Hungerford oct qtr 1914
The only reference you could find was as follows
1901 Census
Street,Odstock,Wiltshire
John White Head 33 Ag lab b Bishopstone,Wilts
Mary E White Wife 28 b Bishopstone,Wilts
Sissie M White Daur 5 b Odstock
Lilith E White Daur 3 b Odstock
Violet L White Daur 5mths b Odstock
I ordered the cert for Violet White as you suggested to find the name of mother I now have it and mum's name was Mary Elizabeth White maiden name Scutt/Scuff? not very clear I'm afraid
Hope this helps
I'm sure you will get somewhere now,as youv'e never failed before
PS Hope dogs fully recovered now
Kindest Regards Chris
PPS Just looked on freebmd marriage and found John White and Mary Elizabeth Scutt Jan qtr Wimborne don't know if it's them or not

Mary Report 27 Feb 2008 16:27

Hi Chris
Firstly the DOG,had the stitches out last Saturday, went for a walk and the wound opened up again. So back to VET and restitched,so glad he is insured, will be over £200 by the time it is sorted.
Yes I am sure that the marriage you found is correct as I have found a Mary Elizabeth Scutt in Cranborne b 1872 which fits, still a puzzle over the birthplace of Bishopstone shown on 1901 for John and Mary E.
Wimborne is the reg district for Cranborne,so well done!!

Here is 1881 & 1891 census for the Scutt family

1881
Holwell,Cranborne,Dorset
Eli Scutt Head 38 Ag lab b Unknown There is a note on the census showing Eli as dumb since birth.
Elizabeth Scutt Wife 34 b Cranborne
Thomas John Scutt Son 11 Scholar
Mary Elizabeth Scutt Daur 9 Scholar
William George Scutt Son 7 Scholar
Eli Robert Scutt Son 5
Fanny Louisa Scutt 3 Daur 3
Unamed Scutt Daur 5days
All children born Cranborne,Dorset

1891 Dry Street,Cranborne,Dorset
Eli Scutt Head 51 Ag lab
Elizabeth Scutt Wife 47
Eli Scutt Son 14 Ag lab
Fanny L Scutt Daur 12 Scholar
Emma Scutt Daur 10 Scholar
Olive B Scutt Daur 7 Scholar
Kate Scutt Daur 6 Scholar
Sidney G Scutt Son 3
The census image shows no birthplaces for any of the family and makes no mention of Eli's disability.

Still stuck on John White.

and 1901 Water Street,Cranborne,Dorset
Eli Scutt Head 59 Ag lab b Cranborne shows him as Deaf and Dumb since birth
Elizabeth Scutt Wife 57
Fanny Scutt Daur 22
George Scutt Son 13
Frederick Scutt Son 8
All others born Cranborne

Another twig or two on the tree!!

All the best
Mary

Hi Mary
Thanx for that, you are a honey!
Sorry to hear about your'e dog having to be stitched up again, poor thing anyway, like you said it's a good job youv'e got him insured

Have you got the Scutt family in the other censuses please?

As for the whites do you think that they could have been transcribed incorrectly?
Someone has mentioned that they may have been living in Hampshire at some time but this may be wrong
Anyway I am sure that you will do your best to find them
Kindest Regards Chris x
