I knew that Thomas Jones was a bus driver as my father knew him . I waited for the 2021 census and i have him now with the family . at 1A south Parade Maesteg .thomas gregory Jones The birthdate on the 1939 register is different but I know that dates there are not always correct as I know the birhdays of family members and they are not correct .. Are they possibly registraton dates ?

Erika, where did you find a record saying illigitimate ? Did it have he parents names ? I thought his mother's maiden name was Davies :-S

No mother's maiden name is stated, therefore her surname was Jones, and she wasn't married.

If Jones had been her married surname, her maiden name would have been where that dash is, just after Thomas's name.

Just because he's listed as "son" in 1921, doesn't necessarily mean it's true.
Could be a grandson.

Got the birth certificate but it it the wrong one . The mother's name is Ellen Jones . I am looking for a mother Mary Jane Davies who later married a Robert Williams (three years after Thomas was born ) Thomas was adopted by Annie Elizabeth Jones and her husband William Jones .. Which is why I thought he might have the Jones surname . Adoption as unofficial as there were no official adoption records at that time .

It is the right family as that is the right addresss. I know they lived in south parade . They are in 1a in 1921 . When Annie's husband passed away, she went to live with my grandmother (her adopted daughter ) in number 6 South Parade . My grandmother's husband Stephen Evans signed her death certificate. as her son-in-law .

Any child born to unmarried Mary Jane Davies would have had the surname Davies at birth

When did the Williams/Davies marriage take place?

The South Parade addresses are right . They are large houses and there were often lodgers . The Monmouth Baptism is wrong ,Mother is Ellen , but I know his birth mother was Mary Jane ,His adoptive mother was Annie Jones . The family on Page 2 here with parents Charles and Johanna is the right .one ,as I know the decendents .. .

you did post the 1939 census in December. There is no G middle name but I know for certain that he was the bus driver .
