Am very sorry to read about your dad Lynda, and understand what you are going through.Have been in the same situation twice in recent years. My mother was in a coma for a week, her sister, my beloved aunty for 2 days.I brought them over here to live with me (Holland) in '96, as they were to frail to manage alone.Very, very upsetting, as it is for you too.
I wish you all the strength and courage in the coming weeks, and wish for your dad a peaceful passing.

Hello, all, and thankyou for your kind messages.
My Dad is still clinging on, after 8 days. All treatment has now been withdrawn, and he is just being kept comfortable. He is such a fighter, and the staff are amazed at his will to live. The waiting is awful; we can only hope that his passing will be peaceful and soon.
It is such a contrast to my Mum, who went suddenly and peacefully in her sleep, the way everybody hopes for.
Lynda.

Lynda. Same thing as my mil last summer. She had had yet another fall and was in hospital in Bodelwyddan in N Wales and kidneys not doing job and everything switched off.

Two weeks later she was right as rain and has just had her 95th. Now they have had to close her residential home pro tem for Novo Virus. And she has it!!

So hard all this towards end of long and very worthwhile lives :-(

Been thinking about you Lynda, and hoping your Dad has a peaceful passing.

So hard to watch our loved ones like this, I was so grateful to the nurses at the hospice where my father spent his last few days, as Mum left the bedside to phone me and let me know she had a lift home, the nurses turned Dad and made things come to a close. It was so much kinder that way than have Mum sitting there for hours on end watching and waiting, knowing what the outcome would be.

What a gritty fighter he is. I warmed to him when you described what an awkward old chap he was and how very independent, Lynda.

Hope he is still comfortable. He sounds like he has made a big splash in this world, and not wasted his life with a little puddle :-) <3

Hello, everyone,
My Dad passed away peacefully yesterday at 4pm. We went to see him in the morning, and the consultant thought that there was a glimmer of hope, as there had been a small response. We didn't know what to think, as we'd been told it was 100% certain that it was just a matter of time. We returned home, only to get a phone call at 4.45 to say that he'd passed away peacefully. Quite an emotional roller coaster, but at least the waiting is over, and we've been able to start making arrangements.
I think he knew that we were there yesterday, as he moved his mouth when I spoke to him, something he didn't do before.
Thankyou all so much for your kind thoughts and prayers, it has meant a lot. I may not post for a short while, but won't forget you.

Love from lynda xx
