I would suggest that you add a post at Rootschat about the information that has been found here, so that no one else wastes time finding things that are not lost

maybe Brigid should have explained this principle to you, and explained, in case it wasn't obvious, that asking total strangers to find information for you about a list of names with no place names or relationships or any indication of what you already know about them is more than a little unhelpful

This death for a Henry Percy Lawrence as per the changed name on army records
( ie formerly Bloomberg) seems possible, the birthday is right as per the school admission but the year is wrong by one, which is not unusual.

No Maureen, it isn't a hopeless case. Its just that we didn't want to go chasing down relatives you are already in contact with.

Rambling Rose has been working tremendously hard on your behalf and has discovered at least one name change. Use the Search All Member tree function to see if anyone else shares the same person. If so, send them a message to find out more.

Although we could possibly find real-time addresses for some of the descendents, only a small percentage of the population are interested in family history, certainly not when the mutual relative was born 100- 150 years ago.

Thank you everyone working on my behalf. I have taken on board the criticisms and am sorry. I am trying to trace anyone living now since nothing was handed down to me, neither uncles had children and I am an only child! To read that a likely relative died in 1978 is quite upsetting. If I say, will try harder, I hope I am forgiven.
