I didn't check here before reading find ancestors post .

I'm sorry i wasn't available when you decided to launch your initial search but do call if you have any queries ..if i can help i will ...

+ i agree that its important to summarise findings and put links to other pages on here + add them to the Rootschat page just in case someone does look up in future. ( hard for technophobes to learn all the steps how to do this .)

so pleased you found at least 1 relative to contact .

Brigid - perhaps you could add the GR threads links to the one on Rootschat? New eyes may be able to find something we've missed.

There are quite a few possibilities.

The one I was looking at (before himself claimed the PC) had been naturalised in NYC in 1889. Unfortunately I couldn't find him on any census with a wife Sarah who had been foreign born.

There are a few on passenger records but I must admit to not liking the way FMP has transcribed, for instance using broad search on names I came across a Sam B... now looking at the image it's crystal clear, because it's typed, that he is Sam Bloomfield , why not say so in the first place :-|

Yup! It seems as if most of the Bloombergs, at least the men, went to the USA. Maybe they thought there was more opportunity for them there. I wrote to Nicholas Rich via the message link but did not find a Watch This to click on. I have also written via ordinary letter post, so will wait to see whether he wishes to make contact. I have discovered such a lot of information and now I must transcribe it all to paper.Bye for now Maureen

+++DetEcTive+++

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 22 Oct 2015 17:25

there is no Watch This link on a personal message - any reply will appear in your Genes 'In Box'. There will a purple square above the message tab at the top of the community pages.
You'll also receive an email from Genes to your linked email address notifying you if he does reply via this site.

You could write to the Temple the Rosenbergs attended in Ohio. They may be willing to put you in conact either with Marvin or one of his children.

It all seems very reasonable! But as we've said before, unless Maureen is willing to buy certificates, its supposition.

Although I'd thought he might have taken the surname Barnett, it was a stroke of genius to consider it might be used as a forename. Well done Rose :-D
