Closing ceremony is noisy but it looks as though everyone is wnjoying themselves :-D

Not as good as the opening ceremony :-|

not the worst Closing Ceremony I've watched ..... but certainly not the best either.

For someone from overseas ............... too many of the musicians were unknown, and too much of the music had the same sort of sound and beat.

OH loves music of all kinds .......... and he found doing the laundry more interesting :-0

and

I do wish Jacques Rogge would find a new speech ........... what he said was almost word for word what he said at the Closing Ceremony in Vancouver 2 years ago!

Watched Threads has not worked properly since it was first begun

It's much easier to jus use Mt Threads ................. every thread that you have posted on just shows up on with with an open envelope next to it

and no filling of your email box with emails.

Had a super meal ..........as always at this restaurant.

The maitre d' came to tell us about additions/changes to the menu. Said that there were no additions to the main courses ......... but then said

"We do have some lovely fresh, wild halibut in the kitchen. Chef has not quite decided on the garnishings for it yet, so it is not on the menu. But if you would like it, I'm sure we can sort something out'!!

OH loves fresh halibut, and his eyes lit up.

He got a beautiful smallish portion of halibut, lightly grilled, and with some imaginative veggies etc!

I had duck breast accompanied by a confit of duck leg meat .... which intrigued me as I didn't know what it was.

The duck leg meat came chopped up and wrapped in a very thin pastry.

I'm still not sure that I know now, after googling, what it was ...... but it was delicious!

I think confit is a home cook's way of preserving duck leg (and also wing) meat from France

altogether ...... well fed and a good evening out :-D

Duck confit.........seen on the chef programmes. Leg placed in a pot, immersed in fat and cooked for a few hours at a low temperature...I'll pass on that thanks :-0

Joy

Joy Report 13 Aug 2012 07:42

Thank you for breakfast.

No, the only thing I could think was it was read all about it, history, the Olympics in the news, or something?
It was announced a few days ago that Prince William had to go back to work.
David Bowie has not sung in public for a few years, he had heart surgery not long before the last time.
I didn't see all the show, I was tired.
It looked good fun for those there, what I saw, with good atmosphere, but not all my cup of tea; and considering it would have been viewed by millions overseas, the music could have had more vareity IMO.
I enjoyed seeing the athletes' parade. Of course not all could be there, just as at the opening ceremony, some had gone back to work such as tennis players.

Have a good day.

Good morning all.......

Thanks Sylvs.........I'd better stick to porridge or I'll munch my way round the table :-D

Sounds as though you had a lovely evening with that special menu. OH likes duck but I'm not too keen - a bit greasy for me.

I stayed up until 11.30pm but, as I had been up since before 7am I was wilting, so went to bed.

No, it wasn't my cup of tea in the music sense of the word - far too noisy, too similar, artists I'd never heard of etc., but........the athletes and crowds seemed to be having a whale of a time. I found it entertaining in that I wondered what was coming next - if you know what I mean.

I think our age is showing folks ! :-(

Ironing and a funeral today...........quite a mixture :-S

Gee

Gee Report 13 Aug 2012 08:23

Thanks Joy, that would make sense I guess

The one blessing is that Paul Mc wasnt there, or if he was, I didnt see him :-D

As the opening ceremony celebrated GB success and history, I thought the closing ceremony might have had our nurses expiring, along with the docs etc ;-)
