Been houseworking so have just popped in for coffee.............watched Heir Hunters too. One of the stories reminded me very much of the mystery surrounding Evelyn's mother - Diane Leslie MacLeod - who stubbornly refuses to give up her birth details........ :-S

Hope Dea is wide awake and functioning well............... :-D

Gee

Gee Report 16 Aug 2012 14:08

What a joke

Son goes to fetch his diploma results this morning, to be told they dont have them, they will come through the post!

4 weeks ago, Northumbria Uni confirmed his place - they knew his results back then

He wants to go through 'adjustment' and apply for a place at Sheffield Uni but Sheffield want to know his results before they can accept him, despite knowing Northumbria have offered him a place, which confirms he has enough credits!

So, I rang the college earlier to ask why his results are not available and how is he supposed to go through adjustment TODAY without them?

Got a call back 10 minutes later.........his results are at City (which is not the campus he has been studying at for the last 2 years) if he would like to collect them!

Now I know 'why' I dont work for a College/Uni and only guest lecture.......they would drive me insane with their incompetence :-P :-P

How many kids who havent been offered a place at Uni cant go through 'clearing' today because of this :-| :-| :-| :-|

Gee

Gee Report 16 Aug 2012 14:47

He's back with his results...................

TRIPLE GRADE DISTINCTION

you cant get a higher grade than that!

:-D :-D :-D :-D :-D <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 :-D :-D :-D

Edit:

Just spoke to Sheffield Uni......they snatched his hand off when they heard his results!

Hi Gin,

Sounds as if he has done very well indeed.

What I can't work out however is where all his cleverness has come from. ;-)

Gee

Oi :-P

Gee

Gee Report 16 Aug 2012 15:59

Well that was an experience....

The man from Safe Style came for the appoinment at 3.30pm, I could see his disappointment when he realised JB was not here with me - they had asked three times on the phone if we would both be here for the quote.........I said yes but it turns out JB couldnt get out of work ;-)

So, he couldnt do the quote as we both needed to be here, why I wonder! So I tell him thats too bad, sorry youve wasted your time

Then he rings the office and the hard sell starts, wasting their time with me I fink! He wanted me to make a decision today about the quote and sign on the dotted line.

No way I said, Im getting three quotes and Ive had one, which was made to me all on my lonesome and sent through the post for me to think about it - nice and civil like

So he pushes for me to make a decision today blah blah blah......Ive not even had the quote at this point!

Well now he's gorn, no quote and never to enter my door again - my choice by the way

That sounds like the rather expensive dodgy kitchen company HID worked for briefly.
Both parties had to be there unless they were living alone of course....Had to sign on the day if not the salesman did'nt get paid. Most were not even interested and only had the sales pitch so they could claim a free weekend break that was being offered.
He did'nt last long there, after he refused the hard sale on an elderly lady who was about to move into an Old peoples home and did not want to spend thousands on a new kitchen on a house she was selling.....but you do have to feel sorry for the salesman he was only trying to make a living....most of these places only pay commission no basic salary aswell

Gee

Gee Report 16 Aug 2012 17:00

Yeah I remember your OH working there for a short time

And I had the same with not being paid unless etc....

I dont feel sorry for the sales people, if they are anything of a 'person' they would leave, as your OH did

jax

jax Report 16 Aug 2012 17:16

Its ok leaving but there is no work avalable doing anything, he has not worked since december when the last company went into recievership. that was a nice little job. I would say that he has worked less than a year in the 3 years we have been here...and £58 a week carers allowance does not go a long way.
He has applied for another driving job this week but the hours are probably 2 am till 10 am....not really a good idea....but he can give it a try if he is lucky enough to get it
