Dea
I keep getting interuppted or side tracked have to be in the mood to knit but want to finish it before we go on holiday.

I managed to get the two front bits done the other night and started the sleeve.
I also can only knit for so long before my hands get sore :-\

Dea Report 21 Sep 2012 21:44

Don't worry - I once started a cardie for me - I did the back, two fronts and one sleeve - I think it was about 14 years later when I did the other sleeve and sewed it together !!

Mind you, I still have it now !!

It is about 5 times too big for me now but I call it my 'poorly sick cardie' as it is so thick and warm!!

Whenever I feel really cold or poorly I put it on top of my clohes and it snuggles me warm !!

Hi all

had a long doctor's visit! It was timed to begin at 2:10, she didn't come in until after 2:30 ....... but it was almost 3:45 when I emerged into the waiting room, where OH had been waiting since 2:30!!

To cut a long story short ................. I have succeeded in getting my blood sugar back into normal range, so I'm no longer considered pre-diabetic. It is however suggested that I continue with the diet.

The bp was higher than they liked, but not dire. I had a long talk with a clinical pharmacist who is on staff at the clinic, to review my drugs. I have to try changing the timing of taking the bp pills for 2 or 3 weeks, and see what happens.

But I am well pleased with myself!

Very pleased to hear that Sylvia - I will let OH know that it CAN be done... <3

Thank you for breakfast.......it looks good enough to eat. :-D

Daughter's tv has packed up so I have been scouring the net looking at possibilities. I took out a month's subscription to Which to help me make some suggestions. May just browse through the fridge-freezer section too...... ;-)

Don't wander too far Dea, we need you back here to keep us in order <3

Cyn ......

............. I was surprised how easy it was. It made very little change to our regular routine and diet, after the first couple of days as we got used to it.

It took a bit longer shopping at first when we were reading labels to see how much sugar was in A vs B .................. but once we'd found a suitable bread, salad dressing, etc, shopping also speeded up. I didn't have to change my cereal.

OR I could cook bacon and eggs, with toast, every day for breakfast, if I wanted ....... it's allowed!! No ad diabetic stuff in those ............. but the cholestrol level has to be watched!

As you know, OH does most of the cooking ................. I just reduced the amount of meat or fish that he gave me, only had equivalent of about half a small potato, and added some extra veggies to my plate in the form of little tiny baby carrots (raw), and red, yellow and/or orange sweet peppers.

I think cutting out all added sugar (in tea, coffee, etc), and buying foods that had the least amount of sugar in them was the major key to it.

I think I'm actually eating more food than before, by the time I've had the 3 smaller meals, plus 3 snacks.

Hope your OH can do the same as me <3

Re knitting .....................

I love knitting

I hate sewing up

so I have quite a number of items where all the knitting is finished, but not the joining up!

Our neighbour had their second child yesterday (Thursday) ..................a 7lb baby girl.

So, I shall look and see which one of about 5 un-sewn up jackets can be completed!

I don't knit layettes or first sizes .................... babies grow out of those too quickly! But I know I have at least 3 suitable in 2nd size, and a couple in the next size up :-D

I always used to look thing up in Which Reports Cynthia but I do not find it very helpful nowadays and often found that the product I was considering had not yet been reviewed by them!

Now, I always look on the Amazon site and read all the Customer reviews - there are usually quite a lot of them and you can get a good 'feel' for whether the product has any problems or not and details of it's quality and performance.

Sylvia I also hate sewing up knitting. The last cardie I did took me 5 weeks before I forced myself to do it luckily it still fitted her cos she had taken a stretch.

OH is going to footie today and I have the joy of shortening about 4 pairs of trousers he wants to take on holiday :-(

I keep threatening to "stretch" his legs hate altering trousers :-(
