Good morning Sylvs - do you mean you WON'T be available from Sunday til Thursday? Tuts.....not going off enjoying your self AGAIN?

Some people.

Can't stay home for one minute.

Always gallivanting.

:-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D

Thank you for breakfast - just toast for me please.

We seem to be having the wettest September at the moment - some areas are having 6months rainfall in 1 day apparently :-0

It's just poured and poured here and we have a bit of a leak over our front window. This hasn't happened for a couple of years so the rain must be hard. It only happens when the rain is blowing in a certain direction - think we may need to get our double glazing looked at.... :-( :-(

OH is off to see his 'Health Trainer' this morning. Same sort of schedule as I have - diet and exercise checks. I can see that we are going to be competing for who can clock up the most steps on our pedometers.... :-D

Back later ~~~~~

Oh dear .. Health Trainer has just phoned to cancel the appointment for OH this morning. Apparently he is flooded out.....poor, poor man. He said he just feels so helpless - there are fields at the back of his house and they are so waterlogged that they are overflowing. I would hate that to happen. :-( :-(

Good morning all !

Don't worry about us Sylvia - we always 'muddle through' somehow, though no where up to your standards ;-) - You just have a lovely time <3

I think the Huevos Rancheros for me today please !

Ohh Cynthia - I just looked back and saw your last post.

SO, OH has a day off then (lucky him) ;-) Not so lucky for his Health Trainer though - I would HATE to have my home flooded. It makes so much mess and takes such a long time to get it back into some sort of order !! :-(

I was wondering about your pedometer ?

Can you tell how many steps you have taken whilst walking along or do you have to take the think off your shoe and look at it at the end?

Oooh Cyns

JB has a team of 'Health Trainers' in the organisation (community based)

To be flooded out.........thats really bad and sad :-(

I wont tell you about KF....MOT failed last week, as you know. Took it to Sytner today..............

........................passed with flying colours. Where, KW had failed it on emissions, Sytner are reporting them for either, incompetence or telling fibs

They are reporting them to VOSA

I'll wait and hear what the outcome is.........but I will not be going to QF for an MOT :-|

Start again Gins...

KF - Kentucky Fried?

Sytner - An opticians?

VOSA - Vestibule of Salvation Army?

QF - Queensland Ferry?

Sheeeeeshhh.

Dea, I wear the pedometer on my waistband and it counts leg movement. I try and average about 4,000 per day but want to increase it as and when I can.

I've been sorting old photos all afternoon and think that I've finally downsized to a manageable number.

:-D

C ......................

sorry to hear that OH didn't get his Health Trainer today .......... poor man. I'd hate to be flooded out.

We have had a couple of little floods in the basement .................. one time we opened the back door to find water lapping against it from inside, then walked into a wall of water as we turned the corner into the next part. An overhead pipe had burst. That part of the basement was carpeted, and furnished.

Then the bottom fell out of the water heater (literally!!) ....... and J came home from her boyfriend's defense of his MSc to find the inside basement flooded out. Fortunately that part is just concrete flooring, and the water hadn't got into the furnished part. They both worked for several hours to soak up the water, and had enough sense to find the turn-off tap. J went to the local supermarket and rented a carpet cleaner to help with soaking up the water. It worked a treat!

They then met us at the airport at about 10 am the following morning with the news :-(

Both times, we had stuff to dry ................ mainly wood that was stored in the inside basement for OH's projects. But neither was really bad compared with what most people face.

The one problem with a pedometer if you wear it all the time, is that it counts every movement the leg makes ................ including sitting down and standing up!

The other thing is that it can easily fall off .................. I lost 3, and broke another 3, by them falling off my waistband.

I finally attached a small piece of string to the pedometer, then fed a small safety pin to the string. Put the pedometer clip over my waistband, AND pinned the string to the band as well.

Didn't lose or break any more after that :-D

About the pedometer!

I was just thinking that it might be useful for grandchildren's grandpa (on the other side).

As you know, he has had a VERY bad time and is still far from well.

I thought it may be an incentive for him to build up his exercise day by day - he could see how far he was walking out before he turned to come back ???

Perhaps not a good idea after all - I will think again :-(

It is a very good idea!!

I used to just wear my pedometer when I went out ................... this emant that I didn't actually measure steps inside the hosue, but I also didn't get too many false readings.

The bit of string is easy to do ..... and just saves money as you don't have to keep buying new pedometers.

One fell off when I bent over in the library to look at a book on the bottom shelf!

I will have a think and will perhaps have to resort to 'the dark side' to discuss this further. :-(

Night Dea.......xx

Sylvs, mine came with a plastic safety clip attached. It split the other day so the pedometer is now fastened on with a length of pink ribbon and a nappy pin!! :-D

My Health trainer i happy with the number however my leg moves.....she said that even ironing i a form of exercise and that's the point....burn off the calories.

Dea, it could be a great incentive for the other grandad to get more mobile. I'm always hoping to do better so I try and park the car a bit further away from wherever it is I' m going etc.etc.

Night night all ~~~~~

that's quite true ................ any form of exercise is good!

You don't even have to do the 10 or 30 minute walk each day all at the same time, if you don't have the energy ................... you can accumulate it over the day, by walking 5 or 10 minutes at a time.

It would be really good for the other grandpa!
