I've spent most of the evening glued to the radio or TV ................... a terrible disaster in the town of West, near Waco, Texas

a fire at a fertilize plant, apparently water was sprayed on hot canisters containing either anhydrous ammonia or ammonium nitrate, or both were close together ................ and there was a massive explosion.

The factory and 5 blocks around it were flattened.


The current situation is still very flexible, but it could be 60-70 dead, 200 injured ................ including firemen, police, emergency workers who were fighting the original fire.

The town of around 3,000 people has been evacuated.

There are are also 30 mph winds, gusting to 50 mph ................... blowing directly across the fires into the town. They're going to last all night, and then switch direction cum morning.

I was pleased to see that Mrs Thatcher's funeral apparently went off quite well, with few interruptions.

It's the same here Ginns we have had VERY strong winds all day yesterday. They got even worse through last night and they don't seem to be easing at all. There will have been a lot of damage done to roofs and fences etc.

It's bin day and both of our which were put out, had blown over........fortunately though, nothing had spilled out. I'm quite fussy about my bins and everything is neatly bagged inside, so maybe that helped.

Busy day today. Exciting things like the VAT, ordered a new IPhone 5.....cant accept my bank details!

Had to configure my business email account on another pc as the work one was 'dead'

No1 son's birthday, he's just left with his brother and co

Still havent started a bunch of marking.........its staring at me as I type

Oh Gins thats thee and me had really exciting days then :-(
