Had visitors this morning ..............
one of OH's nieces, and her 2 small girls ......... both have birthdays next month, one will be 5, the other 3.
Delightful children!!
We found a box of J's old toys in storage, and they played very happily with the dolls etc in there.

Hi Gins ..............
yep ........... quite a lot of stuff of hers still in the store room in the basement :-D
We didn't keep everything of course, she just picked out her very favourite toys for keeping.
Of course ............. she then went and had a boy, so most of the toys she kept are not useful.
The toys are very useful when we have visitors with children though.

Good morning all :-)
I kept a lot of my son's toys also Sylvs - ALL of his 'Star Wars' figures and vehicles etc. and his little cars and his Fisher Price Safari set with the jeep and all the animals.
When we put them away they had been well played with and loved but still in VERY good condition as my son always treated his toys with care.
They came out again 6 or 7 years ago for my grand-daughter to play with when we looked after her and she was very good too! - Then came my grandson :-0 :-D - He now plays with them and there are so many bits and peices missing and broken off so many things I don't think many of them will last for another generation to play with ;-) :-D :-D
Son took all his Star Wars things home to 'guard' - there was quite a collection !
He lets the children 'look' and occasionally 'touch' (under strict supervision), but they can't play with them until they are MUCH older. ! :-D :-D

I still have my Hornby Dublo electric train set, complete in its original box. It will be 60 years old at Christmas. When I first had it I was only ever allowed to play with it when my father was present because my mother didn't trust me not to electrocute myself. :-0
As I grew out of playing with trains I passed the set on to my sister for her 2 sons to play with. Many years later when my eldest son was the same age as I had been when I was given the set I rather optimisticly asked my sister whether they still had it. To my surprise they did and they had looked after it very well, so I got it back. I was hoping to be able to pass it on to a grandson but as yet none of my kids have presented me with one so one day you may see the set appearing on the Antiques Roadshow. :-D

Jonesey, are you sure you don't mean we will be seeing YOU on the Antiques Roadshow??? ;-)
Ahem......moving on quickly....
Good morning and thank you for breakfast Sylvs. Off to see my health trainer this afternoon so I have had porridge and banana........I do hope she is pleased with me today..... :-S
Linds, not sure yet about Liverpool and whether I will come by car or train but I will let you know nearer the time.
It took nearly 20 minutes for my computer to allow me to do anything this morning... :-|
I am clearing my cache. browsing history etc. but wonder if I have too many items on my Start up. I must check that later............
Meanwhile, I think a walk is due.....~~~~~~

Re the old toys.......I have one very battered rubber doll from my childhood and nothing from my children's youth except a few books. Moving several times and then having to downsize meant a lot of clearing out......... :-D

Morning everyone,
Nice and sunny today hope it heats up a bit.
OH and GD making breakfast ( we wait for O to arrive cos she "steals" my roll :-)
Oh Jonesey Antiques Roadshow would love my attic and hut!!
GD loves playing with my sons old Fisher Price toys.
The first time we brought out the school house she played with it for hours still asks Grampa to bring the house out for her.
We kept quite a few of the "good" toys have got the FP circus train, airport, drum kit, the tool bench, DR's case and other bits and pieces.
They are all complete and if you look on ebay etc worth a few bob.
I told her Daddy she loves them - so much for all the fancy new toys ;-)
We also have quite a lot of the Star Wars stuff.
My older two wouldn't let my youngest touch theirs when the 2nd lot of films came out as the older stuff was worth money then.
We took him into a shop in town which had some stuff and he got talking to the owner who asked me what we had and said that all the little bits would probably have been lost.
When I tolh him I had a jar full of the guns helmets etc he said " bring them in and I will give you a valuation Mrs wish everyone had a mother like you that kept all them"
We never did take them in (I might now)
We also have boxes full of Action Man (some were my sons some from my brothers) lots and lots of cars, turtles, wrestling figures, etc.
Oh also has his train set and I have my teddy and walking doll.
Must go now as O is trying to help me type this :-)

I picked my grandson up from Nursery School and he brought home with him yet another 'proof' photo (to be ordered at great expense by parents and grandparents etc).
However - this one was different - It was his 'Graduation Photo' as he is leaving at the end of this term to start School at the end of August.
He was dressed in a beautifully tailored blue-grey 'Mortar and Gown' - complete with tassel hanging to one side and holding a certificate rolled up with red ribbon around, in just the pose which you see on 'grown up' Graduation photo's.
What a wonderful idea !
This one is going to take pride of place on my sideboard for many years to come :-D :-D :-D
It is such a shame that they hadn't thought of this idea when grand-daughter 'Graduated' from there a few years ago.

That's a new idea Dea......haven't heard of that before... :-D
Had a lovely walk together this morning. We stopped to admire the different types of grasses, the wild orchids and, most interesting, a couple of large trees which have been recently felled. They had enormous trunks so I guess they must be a few hundred years old, and we pored over the stumps looking at the fantastic patterns inside.
OH then went on to his Heath Trainer and he has gained a little bit of weight....hahahahaha......meantime, I have lost a little bit..........so, it's a case of Diets at Dawn!!! :-D
Have managed to wash and iron my lounge and dining room curtains this week. so am pleased that the weather held. :-D
So, what's been happening around the boards today.....peace and harmony or trouble and strife.....:-S
