Good morning and thank you for breakfast Sylvs.........that bacon looks too good to miss....... ;-)

Canadian accent??? Dear oh dear, c'mon Sylvs.....you're letting the side down! sheeeeesh......

Gracie - meat is such a price I agree. I absolutely adore roast beef but, because there are only three of us for Sunday lunch usually, I tend to buy a squidgy little piece, cook it in the slow cooker and finish off in the oven if needs be. My butcher knows exactly how much to cut for me. I'd love to be able to buy a bigger piece but it would go to waste with my two sadly.... :-( Enjoy yours and think of me :-D

The funeral was okay as was my outing with my friend. Hoping for a less manic day today..... :-)

Have a good day all ~~~

SylviaInCanada Report 26 Jul 2013 21:39

first time I've ever been accused of having a Canadian accent :-D :-D :-D

we have a roast most Sundays even though there are usually only the 2 of us, alternating beef, pork, lamb, and occasionally chicken

we both love a roast cold, so OH buys a piece around 1 kg ................... and it usually does the 2 of us for 3 meals .............

........ hot on Sunday, cold sliced on Monday and Tuesday. Occasionally, it lasts until Wednesday, when it is turned into a version of a risotto or a lamb curry.

J does very much the same ............... except she has to warm up the slices of cold meat for her OH 'cos he won't eat it cold.

Im on the naughty step............left the huge window in the bay wide open last night :-0

JB came down this morning to find it a tad chilly and saw the window 'welcome burglars'

I usually leave the windows on the car wide open........must have fancied a change!

Good morning all. Thank you for breakfast Sylvs and I really appreciate that lovely porridge. :-)

Silly Gins.. :-D

Mind you, it's easy done in this hot weather. We've occasionally been out and left the waist high dining room window open because we had completely forgotten that we had opened it in the first place...................doh!

Off to see what today brings.................... :-S

Gee

Gee Report 27 Jul 2013 08:43

Yeah, because its not often hot enough to have the big window open, so never think to check it before going to bed

I am having problems (still) with the PM system.......anyone else?

Dea

Dea Report 27 Jul 2013 09:05

No problems at the moment on mine Ginns ;-)

Several years ago, when we were also having a heat wave (I think it was 2000), I left the upstairs front window open to air the room as we had had visitors staying for several days and the room was hot and stuffy.

It was the bedroom next to ours and when I got up in the morning and went downstairs I found that we had had burglars in the night while we were asleep :-0 :-(

It was a horrible feeling to know that they had come in through the next room and gone downstairs and taken things from every room down there and let themselves out and we slept through it !

We then got an alarm fitted and I now know that at least if they come in again the alarm will go off and I will know!

I also have a baseball bat next to my bed - just in case ;-)

Although, I have to say, on the rare occasions when the alarm has gone off for some reason during the night, I have raced downstairs (without my trusty weapon) so that I could immediately stop the darned thing from ringing and waking all the neighbours :-D :-D

Still, it makes me feel safer, especially when hubby used to be away quite a lot and I was there on my own.

Gin,

Like yourself the "Messages" link at the top of the GR page shows that I have new messages (+2) waiting. When I look at my inbox there are no new messages.

Another of the GR site gremlins methinks.

Jonesey

Jonesey Report 27 Jul 2013 09:23

Many years ago when I was still young and living with my parents they were burgled.

My father heard a noise downstairs and grabbing his trusty bedside cosh with him he went downstairs to investigate. As he reached the bottom of the stairs he spotted a chap legging it through the back door so he gave chase. Unfortunately he couldn't run as fast as the burglar and gave up the chase a couple of streets away. When he stopped he was by the local bus garage so he decided to telephone the police from there as we did not possess a telephone at home. He went into the garage, explained what had transpired and asked to use the phone. It was only then that he realised the picture that he presented. He was barefooted, dressed only in pyjama bottoms and carrying a 2 foot long wooden club.

No wonder the bus garage staff didn't argue with him when he asked to use their phone.:-D

Linda

Linda Report 27 Jul 2013 14:21

Jonesey :-D

Gins bet you will check all the windows now at least for the next few nights :-D

I don't have any problems with the messages.

When we were moving someone tried to break in but as we had a glass front door and it obviously made some noise as they were trying to force it open they didn't succeed in gaining entry.

Just as well as it was 10 days before we moved and most of the stuff was boxed up and labelled :-D
The police thought I was mad when I laughed and said that if they had got in everything was ready for them to take :-)

Cynthia hope you have a quiet day today :-)
