I have received this message,
Dear Tracey,
Thank you for your email.
At the moment we do have enough advisor. But in order to be one you must meet the foll9owing criteria:
1). Been a member for more than a year. 2). Have more than 100 names in your tree. 3). No history of abuse on our message boards.
I hope this helps.
Kind regards,
Estelle
~~~~~~ ....and replied with this....
Estelle,
I do feel like you are skirting around the issue, what is the SPECIFIC reason i have been prevented from doing so? I have been an active member for more than a year and have over a 1000 people in my tree.... and i wish to know the reasons i have been reported for abuse? (that's the only criteria left) I may well go down the data protection route and formally request to know the information you hold on my file.
I know for a fact you do not currently have the full quota (according to your current star'd people!) and that only 7 have been appointed....and even they are not coping!! ....well i say not coping, them actually being online and helping would be a good start!
I once again feel GenesReunited are letting down the people that hold them up the most.... such a shame.
Tracey
I then realised that Estelle was the one sending me the email and the other one telling me i couldn't be a starry person had come from someone else... so what is going on now?
I shall await the reason for last nights calamity...
Just getting worse here.
T xx
EDIT:
New reply....
Dear Tracey,
I am sorry, I didn’t mean you’d been reported for abuse, I was just explaining the criteria. I apologise if I didn’t make this clearer. If you meet our criteria then we can certainly add you to our waiting list if you’re still interested?
We do now have 10 advisors. I took the final 3 on a first-come first-serve basis. I do apologise for any disappointment.
Kind regards,
Estelle
Posted by Options Post Date Answer? Request Review 20th Nov 2010 Hello, I had a thread on here earlier re who should let new folk know that they have replies if they don't come back here.
It's disappeared! Why?
I haven't deleted it.
Cynthia.
Kathleen Bell Request Review 20th Nov 2010 Hi Cynthia,
I have only just logged on so I didn't see your post. If you didn't delete it then either it is a glitch in the system or it was deleted by Genes.
This Clinic works in the same way as the other boards. You do not receive a message telling you that you have replies. You have to come back to your thread. You can find it my clicking on "My thread participation" on the left of the screen.
Kath. x
Request Review 20th Nov 2010 Kath. Thank you.
I know precisely how to return to my threads and I have spent the last three or so years sending messages out advising new members how to return to their threads. My contacts list now stands at 10,000 which shows how often I have done this work.
You must have seen me posting over the last few years.
What I am asking is.........where IS my thread? If I didn't delete then Genes did.....but why?
My question, in case you missed it Kath, was: do I send out my message to people who have not returned on here, or will the official helpers do it? I can easily pm a copy to them if that will help.
The alternative is, no one contacts the new folk who post on here and don't know how to return........result.......frustration all round.
Regards. Cx.
Genes Request Review 20 Minutes Ago Dear C, if you have a question that isn't one asking for help with your research, could you contact the Genes support team instead? They'll be more than happy to help you. Their email address is [email protected]. Thanks!
Good morning All
I am now asking Genes to respond on the clinic thread concerning the removal of my completed tick
Tracey - at least you are special enough to warrant a response I do not even get replies
It is a bl&&dy good job my subscription - due for renewal next month is discounted - but even so beginning to think it is a waste of my pension money
I have no idea why the thread number turned out to be a request review number or some such - seen others mentioning it on other posts
But I really dont care why or how - it was not important - what does it matter
Sometimes I think I post for something to say -
Really do think it is time to rethink my hobby - my tree has been done for over a year - could carry on to perhaps add 87th cousins 57 times removed I suppose
But what for ---- one day someone will looking for me - just another dead person
Think I may go and do some ironing and get a bit of excitement back into my life
How much is your luggage going to weigh if you take half a ton of ironing with you???
Renes, don't get downhearted, we are still here as a mainly happy mad group and can weather the storm if we support each other.
:)))))) feeling fairly cheerful at the moment. Better get that sorted then!
Dear 'Genes'
Looking in my Sent box, I see I have sent three messages to the Support Team.....none of which, as yet, are showing as having been opened.
I would be interested in your comments. Thank you. Cynthia
I then added.........................
I would also like to add that, since the introduction of your changes, it has been noticed that the number of people asking for help has reduced dramatically.
I can vouch for this by the number of messages I am now sending out. A week ago I would have had 10 pages of queries to work through on TTF. Today there are about 5 pages from yesterday's postings. All the boards are affected and there are not many on the HC either.
So much talent on these boards going to waste. What a shame.
Cynthia.
Just to annoy Cyn.
This is another reply i've had...
Dear Tracey
Thank you for taking the time to report this problem.
I have passed the details of this specific issue to our technical team to look at and investigate.
Your patience while we work to resolve this is much appreciated.
Best regards,
Nia
...this was my message..
Hi Alex,
The only 3 issues still bothering me are.....
1). I goto the TTF board, look at a thread and then randomly there is a word from the thread i was looking at (not always a name from the thread) entered into the filter box! This then produces a list from the board (depending on the word used) !! There has been numerous issues where someone has replied to a very old post (pre 2006/7 posts could not be replied to in thread format like todays) and this then produces alot of old threads becoming live, and then even some of us oldies, are replying! It's more than a little drustrating for us oldies, but for those new to the site, they'll be sat there wondering where all those posts were that were 'there a minute ago'.... not realising the filter is cr*ping out!
2). There used to be a lovely date filter that seems to have been messed with and now doesn't work. You could sort a thread into date/time order instead of post order. I prefer to look at the threads last post first..... the old filter was great and would remain as set for the entire duration of my stay on site (no matter which board i was in). Now it's been changed around, so as soon as i post or move about the boards it changes back to the standard format of first post ....or even worse just randomly place you somewhere in the thread! i have to keep clicking the 'post date' link to correct this, again this is confusing newbies as they are asking where their post has gone! It's there, they just cannot see it because for some reason the coding is not placing them back to where they should be (ie as the last poster on the thread) and puts them somewhere else in the thread.
3). and this is part of the above, when we post or edit a post on a thread the above happens, and we are not returned to the thread as the last poster but just a random position in the thread. The only way to correct this is to either click the 'post date' link or to come out of the thread and go back in.
While i am aware of this issue, my first experiences of it were very confusing!! As the site changes we all briefly become newbies and are all in the same boat, us more familiar with the site can find work arounds....but those poor newbies were getting lost! (indeed even i got stuck in a thread for 10 mins trying to work out where my post had gone, and once understood randomly found myself back in the main boards then wondering where indeed most of the threads had vanished to!....bloomin filter grrr)
I do hope my ramblings make sense to you.
The changes are making the site more useable, i just hope you can iron out the glitches before you alienate the new users, they are feeding back to us oldies that the site is simply to hard to work round....
Tracey x
Cyn, i am emailing them directly from my own email address not through this site...wonder if that's what is making a difference?
So there is a waiting list to be a starry person?? what sad sacks then!!
Last night I only saw one request for help, but not only did she put it in the clinic at the same time but had also asked the exact same thing 6 months ago which she had replied too, getting fed up with dealing with these people now. What about that buisiness we were all going to set up, or do you all want to take up poker with me?
