It says ...

Sorry, friends, neighbours, etc.! I don't 'do' Facebook. I appreciate 'friends' requests, but I don't want to be listed on others' pages. Thanks for understanding!

And still I get friends requests ...

Only from people at this site, because that's my identity at this site only.

I just don't choose to invade my own privacy by having my name plastered around on other people's web pages that contain who knows what that I might not want to be associated with! ;)

jax

jax Report 25 Nov 2010 02:55

I had that for ages because I was'nt putting my email address in I think?

I hate FB I just go on to be nosey then get myself upset when I see some of the things my girls have said (not about me) just in general. I hate all these strangers sending friend requests too I like to know who they are even if I dont know them personally.
I had an aunt request me once I felt really bad and would'nt accept her, I had not seen her for at least 30 years and as my mum will not have anything to do with her family I thought it would not be a good idea.

well, I swore I would never go on fb ......... even though my daughter and my nieces post on there a lot.

I hope I've done all the privacy things correctly!

I don't know what I would ahve done in that case ja...x

My dad's family was a great one for having feurds ............... there were 6 siblings, and there was always someone not speaking to someone else!

Thats the same with my mums she was the middle one of 7. One has died but she will not speak to the other 5. They changed their phone number but as they have not moved house since 1982 they are so easy to trace if any of them wanted to just drop round.
I am in touch with one cousin on there thats how this aunt found me as I use my married name which she would not have known. She refuses to speak to her own mum so thats how bad this family is lol

somehow, my Mum was the peacemaker .... so they all seemed to talk to us, but not to each other.

The children are the same .

.................. dad's older brother had 6 children. The 5 daughters emigrated ............... and now I'm not supposed to talk to the eldest daughter of one of them because her mum is mad at her! Unfortunately for them, I really like the daughter who is only 6 years younger than me, and I'm also a bl***y minded Canadian now ....................... I think M saw that she might get a mouthful from me if she did continue on to say "no contact". BUT she has stopped her sisters from talking or contacting their niece. Pitiful.

The brother of those 5 stayed in the UK, and had 6 children .............. 1 girl and 5 boys, and THEY are split into 2 factions.

I have to make sure that whatever I send or say to the 3 surviving cousins down under are the same, or have the same "value"

Heaven forbid that one gets to know something before the others!

jax Report 25 Nov 2010 04:08

It is hard with familys

I have a fair few cousins and most won't remember me as I am one of the oldest. This cousin who is a friend on FB has the youngest cousin as a friend and last time I saw her was at her christening 33 years ago, nice to see what they look like though.
I have only one sister and she never married or had kids and my dads only sister died on my 21st birthday in Australia with one son who I last saw in 1982 so it can be a bit lonely in the family stakes.
When I was with the ex I felt I had a proper family again then when I left him (although I was not to blame) they did'nt want to know me although they are friendly enough when I have met them at the kids birthdays ect
