No obvious marriage for George so could be 1 of a few.To get Sarah's maiden name you will need to obtain a birth cert of 1 of the children they had. Then i can look for the marriage for you. They must have married before 1841 as they were together on the 1841 as married.

Hope that all helps you.

I only have access to Incoming records.Did you already have the info for the 1936 arrival? Also i don't hold access to World records so would not be able to access Candian records.
I do have Eng,Wales and Scotlands census records and access to parish info and BMD's.
Let me know Willie re that 1936 arrival.

Willie Report 29 Nov 2008 00:36

Hi Michelle,
yes I knew about the 1936 entry. This is my very close family, although I know very little about them.
They emigrated to Canada in the early twenties but came back in 36. My G/father and uncle are buried in Windsor. I have a year of death for my G/mother, (1991), location not known. My father William died in Dec 1990, again location not known. Whilst in Canada 3 other children were born, Isobel, 1926, Elizabeth, (Betty) in 1928 and Fred, 1933.
Would dearly love to find were they are buried and if Isobel, Betty and Fred are still alive.
Could you possibly do a search for deaths/marriges in England??
Many thanks,
Willie.

Willie

Looking at the 1936 entry the address registered for where they would be living at was-

Delny Ross-shire-Scotland

They arrived on the Montcalm ship on the 1st March 1936 into the Port of Greenock-Scotland they travelled 3rd Class.

James was aged 42 and listed as a Newsagents
the youngest listed was Fred aged 3.

Prob is Willie if they remained in Scotland i won't be able to help with BMD's.I only have Eng Wales BMD.

This site is a good site for Scottish BMD's you do have to pay to view.

http://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk/

If you have info that any of the family lived in England then i try and help.
My main area of research is the census era hence why i do not have so many records after 1920's.
I hope the Scotland site is helpful to you.

Hello Michelle, have just found your site and wonder if you can help with baptismal record at All Saints Laleham, of my grandmother Jane Catherine Davies, born illegitimate believed in Staines Workhouse, 9.1.1881 to Catherine Davies. She was later fostered by putative grandparents and appears in 1881 census as a nursling and later in 1891 aged ten. I am anxious to find out (a) if she was baptised and if poss where she was before 1891. Any chance you could help with this? Many thanks, Mavis

Thanks so much, Michelle. Her b cert gives mother but father unknown. Believe her mother was born Montgomery. Since Jane and my grandfather were married in the local church, I had assumed she must have been baptised at some point. What a shame that illegitimacy was so frowned on in days gone by, only after my mother's death did I learn of this fact. You really are doing a great job there. Thanks so much. Mavis.

Anthony

Anthony Report 30 Nov 2008 10:34

Hi Michelle,

All the Sarah's …. I hope that the census data can help with the following. With all the Perry's in the Brewood area around 1800, there is some confusion about marriages, etc. I have a number of Sarah's:
- The Sarah Perry you found born about 1786 in Brewood, listed with a daughter of the same name who was born about 1616. This seems to have been her only child. As far as I can make out, this was an illegitimate birth because I can find no trace of a marriage or a father's name. The Sophia born about 1801 (actually I think in 1799) and listed on that same 1841 census list was a younger sister of this Sarah; Sophia married Joseph Bradshaw in 1842.

So far so good

- A second Sarah was born in the area at about the same time 1786 but married Joseph Perry born about 1770. They had a number of children including a Joseph born in 1811 who married a Sarah born 1816 (I think this might be the Sarah from above, so we would have two unrelated Perry's getting married).

- A third Sarah (maiden name unknown) born around the same time married Heber Perry (or Eber - not exactly a common name either way) who, I think, was from Blymhill Staffs. This would be an unrelated, or not closely related, Perry group.

The extra interest in all this is an Emma Perry born 1819, and given as daughter of a Sarah in IGI (no father's name), but is presumably one of the above three. Emma married Charles Bate in 1836. They had quite a large family, as you list from the 1851 census. The Sarah Perry listed would then be the grandmother, i.e. one of those three Sarahs.

Any ideas on this?

Anthony

Hi there, well can see we have a tricky choice to make.I have had a look on the site i use at the trees to see if Emma Perry 1819 is on any and she was.The parents are listed as Sarah 1786 and Thomas 1770-Thomas listed as Brewood also and also listed is he died before 1841.No deathyear listed for Sarah.
The 3 children listed for the couple are Sophia 1801-c1871 and Joseph 1811 and Emma 1819.

As you mentioned here is Emma's marriage

I wonder if viewing all finding info on the 1836 marriage of Emma may give clues?

Maybe an idea to contact the records office at Staffs they should hold the records for Brewood and should have the marriage, you have the date of the marriage and the name of her spose. They may hold extra info on witnesses?
