Hi Michelle,
Thank you so much for all your research on William Rogers. As you say, the Cold Ashby William is far out on birth date. I was going to say that as the Alderton William was lodging in 1851 he couldn't be mine but then I found I hadn't got mine in 1851 either, only in 1861 on. My William was definitely married by 1851 but could have been lodging or visiting in 1851. Oh, my goodness!! Please could you check for William and wife Frances in 1851.They lived in Greens Norton all their married life.
I know you asked about the marriage cert. William says he was 'of full age' labourer, residence Greens Norton, no fathers name as I said but the witnesses were John Darby and Ann Rogers.
Maybe Williams mum had married by 1841, maybe William can't be found in 1841 because he is down as son of Mary and ...new surname.Could John Darby be a clue, could it be Williams step father? My mind is buzzing.
Another reason for me thinking William was the son of Mary is because Thomas and Frances who had a William in 1826, (A William age 6 death in 1832) then had another son in 1836 and called him William (lots of Williams around) I don't think they would have called him William if their first William was alive. Trouble is, my neice has done a huge family tree basing it on William son of Thomas and Frances and I feel uncomfortable about this as there is no father on Williams marriage cert
Sorry!! I am using you as a sounding board but maybe something might pop up!!
Love
Chris

Thank you again Michelle, That has definitely ruled the Alderton William out!
My husband and I have lots of family from the Towcester area (have you seen Mary Taylors Towcester web site? That is very useful and interesting)
Many thanks again!

Your Sidney is proving a tricky chap!I have his wife on the 1871 and him on the 1891-1901 but not on 1851-61 census yet?I have his birth record although there is 2 listed on Ancestry for same quarter? This maybe a double entry? Also have his marriage in Wales.
I should imagine on the 1861 he was at sea as he was a Mariner-never easy people to find as they are often away at sea.

You will have to check with the GRO if these birth records are the same person or 2 Sidney's-although i can only see 1 in the census records.

Sorry i couldn't see him on the 1851-makes me wonder if he was even on it as i have looked for quite a while. The only other poss is that his mother had remarried and he is hiding under a different surname?
This family look interesting as the father was from Ireland.I had a quick look and couldn't see Steven again??saw a poss for his sister as a servant in a later census.Wonder if Sidney had a middle name??my mind is running away now!!

Hi Lesley

I can't say if they are 100% correct.I have done this look up on your info-names and places of marriage-West Ham that you gave me.Queenie i would say is a def cos the name is not very common. There is no way of knowing from the BMD records if it is your people cos ages are not given only the details i gave you. This is why i said to send for the certs and then you will know for sure.
I don't normally do searches beyond 1930 and was doing this as a favour to you.
