Oh David I am glad Tracy is helping you as if anyone can find info she can.

Oddly enough, before I sought help on this this thread, I had John Atkinson's father on my tree as Joseph and Joseph's Father as as William.

Put them in at least a year ago, cannot recall where or who I got them from.

As I'm rather sslow at using the tools available, they must have been volunteered

I recently posted details of a GRO cert showing my GGFather's wedding to Mary Ann Scott with their Father's names.

It says at the bottom of the cert CAUTION: THERE AREOFFENCES RELATING TO FALSIFYING OR ALTERING A CERTIFICATE AND USING OR POSSESSING A FALSE CERTIFICATE

WARNING: A CERTIFICATE IS NOT EVIDENCE OF IDENTITY.

To my interpretation this means not proof of identity of the possesser, not the party on the certificate.

Am I correct?

Will GRO give Josephs marriage to Alice without a date?
Will GRO give Joseph's birth certificate without an exact date?

Hey there David

Like i said to you in that PM

You will need to get hold of the Watermen Society (google them) They will hold the records on your relatives. I ma lead to believe they are quite comprehensive records and may give you more data than you already have.

Google 'Newcastle Watermen' and see what come up.

This is the line you will need to follow now. Being a Waterman was a skilled trade and the records kepy could include parent names and other members of the family whom are Watermen.

I'm very impressed with my fore fathers
When there was no wind to use sail, they would row.

The intended purpose of either route being to find Josephs parents
