Can you give me some help please - what is the correct procedure when there is a marriage between two people already detailed on a family tree

I have an aunt and uncle listed - with their siblings listed - I now find that two of the "in laws" have married and have children

Do I add the husband to the wife and vice versa - thereby listing them twice - and where do the children go

I have searched about for info but drawn a blank

Thank you

Hi all

no-one missed me either

sob, sob

I lurve black pudding ... but I have to wait until I come to the UK to get a decent one. Some butchers do import them, but they're not quite the same ..... bit like the Melton Mwbray pies have turned out to be.

I almost always have a fulll cooked breakfast when we stay in a hotel or motel ............. hang the cholestrol!

But, oh, those days of cooking bacon etc on a campsite

We loved camping, in a tent. Not the RV or tent trailer which became most common over here from the mid-70s on.

It does appear though that people in their 30s are going back to tent camping, having been brought up by parents who used tent ttrailers or campers during the 70s and 80s

:))))

Irene

I usually add both parties and duplicate the census bmd info for that person. I then add a note to say that that person is on my tree twice on each one and choose one to add children or parents too.

I dont know.
I dont do a tree on here, cant understand it and it takes too long to put all details in,good old paperwork for me.

But then again I dont do branches or twigs either

And I HATE it when someone says"I will call you back this evening about it"and DONT.
Why say you will in the first place ,or phone and say sorry we no longer have it/want it.

Sometimes I could take an axe to my tree! Flippin' ancestors who didn't marry or get registered or get themselves on census. Grrr.

Anyone on here like Ronan Keating? Well, he's singing in my back yard......actually just across the field. OH has just said he can hear 'the noise', so I've been out for a listen.

Nope

Renes

Renes Report 9 Jul 2010 21:05

Thank you both for response - all the ancestors are listed so if I cross ref the two parties and add the children to the male line - I suppose this would be correct -

what concerned me was when tree is finished
and printed - there will be no obvious link to
the matriarch line for the children
All these people on the Dorset and they have to start marrying their brother in laws - sister
Ugh Ugh

FBG - how do you show the relationship between one person and another - I hate this tree on here - but am at loss how else to store all the relationships

I also do not want to look anymore of a dim wit - genealogy wise - when I have my tree printed

Thank you

You can merge people on a familytreemaker but you would have the same problem on a printed tree.

Irene - Hvave you thought about a home programme such as Family Tree Maker ??

2005 version is good - 2008 version has many problems - I am not sure about subsequent versions but I am sure someone will advise !!

I am not very technical and haven't tried it as yet but I am told that you can just download it to a 'stick' ?? and take it in to a place where they do these things on wide paper and the can print it out for you (Staples perhaps if you have one in your area).
