just thinking today how much I used to enjoy camping.

Ground is too far away now though.

I'd never get up from the lilo and cooking sometimes involved a few contortions.

LK, do you remember what frying bacon used to smell like in the open air......one of the nicest smells I can think of.

Sports car for Gins? She wouldn't be able to get out of it, never mind into it!! Think of those creaking bones!

Many years ago... You all remember those... When I was a Lad... yes once.

Some lads from my school where sent off on our own to treck and camp...



I clearly remember and can still smell the fry up after the first night..


Ahh.. those sausages,, the bacon...


The sausages fell out of the pan onto the mud Yes the mud... they were lobbed back in the pan to carry on cooking....

We used to get 2 concrete blocks ,an old oven shelf and go to the nearest field (of parents) and play at camping there.

No tent ,so we had fertiliser sacks (plastic)and animal feed sacks to make shelters with

They are really good as sledges as well.

Climb in at the top of a steep hill and off you go.
No heavy sledge to pull up to the top either.

I love an all day breakfast which includes all of the above plus fried bread.....sooooo delish. OH likes black pudding too, but I'm not keen on it. [Mind you, I don't let him eat it in these cholesterol free days!]


Sledging on a tray can be fun. Got a smashing photo of OH nose down in the snow!!!
