is it possible to do a surname search mcmahon with those parents say from 1860 to 1866. If none come up it probably means that they have moved from the area. I expect the kids to have two forenames as mary anns siblings did

I did a +/- 10 search and those I listed were all that came up.

Regarding how many marriages between a John McMahon and a Mary Ann Smith - well, I suppose the answer is how many can you find on FreeBMD?!

I'd be inclined to rule out the James baptism, too. Apart from the short gap, the parish is different.

I guess the Q about how many marriages was rhetorical! there is of course only one recorded on BMD before 1860, but smith is a common name as I guess McMahon was in Ireland. A marriage could have been else where.
But the names f
it ,the father of Mary Ann fits at the marriage, the occupation fits, and the place of birth of the children fits. It just seems to good to be true.

I guess the remaining question is what then happened to the family .Is this the same John and Mar Ann Mcmahon who turn up in india.
