I couldn`t believe just how wealthy they were, did a check to see what it would be worth today, just under a million!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Pity he didn`t look after my Grandma/Grandad, they didn`t have two pennies to rub together

have found a Joseph Morris in national probate calendar;
address Upper Moss Side farm, Cuerdley near Warrington, died 30.4.1941
£8262.16.9 to the District Bank Ltd.
farm name seems promising? do you know why money would go to a bank?
death age would have been 74 which is acceptable range
have never heard of Cuerdley

That looks to be him. Would make date of birth abt.1867 and address is correct so can't see how it can't be him.
Money may have gone to the bank to pay off loans that he had taken out? You can apply for a copy of the will, but not sure how to go about doing that as I have never done it. It may give you some more clues but then again if his money went to the bank, then there may be nothing on it so it could be a waste of money.

For info:- Cuerdley is a civil parish in Warrington, Cheshire, England. It has a population of 107 (2001 census) and much of its area is farmland. A large part of Cuerdley is occupied by the Fiddlers Ferry Power Station.

Very small so not surprising that you haven't heard of it.

If he died in March, then death would have been registered in June, so death Chris has found looks good.
When you get the marriage certificate, could you post all the info from it onto this thread so that we can see what it says and if it confirms, or not, the info found.
Usually takes a couple of weeks so will check back then.
Fingers crossed X

now have copy of marriage certificate
dated july 26th 1919 at St Marys church, parish of Halton, county of Chester
name/surname
Arnold Corker aged 28 bachelor, machine hand, residence Bates Bridge, fathers name James Corker, tanner
Josephine Morris Hayes aged 22 spinster, no rank or profession named, residence The Brook Halton. fathers name Joseph Morris Hayes, farmer
All seems to fit but Joseph Morris has added Hayes to the end of his name, could this be due to the fact that her mother is thought to be Mary Ann Hayes.
Have been in contact with other GR member who has Joseph Morris, born in Weaver in his tree, all seems to fit with what I have, His father/mother/siblings etc.

Hi Josephine,
As Josephine's name is noted on marriage as Josephine Morris Hayes, then father probably noted his own name as Morris Hayes to save face. They probably just didn't want anyone knowing she was illegitimate.
At least you are now sure that father was indeed Joseph Morris, a farmer.
Thanks for getting back to thread with info.
