Ellen

Ellen Report 23 Oct 2005 11:48

Hi Sue There are literally hundreds of Andrew McDonalds in Scotland! Can we narrow it down a little - do you have any of his parents/siblings names or any other info at all from other sources? Regards Ellen.

Ellen

Ellen Report 23 Oct 2005 12:04

Sue Scotlandspeople(.)co.uk Remove the brackets. Has what must be the marraige - 1894 in Inverness. Andrew McDonald to Isabella Ann Morrison If you haven't used it before, it costs £6.00 for 30 credits. One credit will let you view the search result and a further 5 will give you the actual image of the cert. So a total cost of £1.20 - and instantaneous, unlike the English/Welsh system! The certificate will give you the names of both parents for each, along with the mothers' maiden names and the fathers' occupations. Well worthwhile spending the cash. We will then be able to pin both families down on the 1881. Regards Ellen.

Hi Elaine Have loked for yours first as they were in the north and that was the cd I had in the puter. This is the closest Elizabeth, although I have another one to check out on the other cd. This list shows all Elizabeth Johnsons in the UK, born in Lanarkshire (Glasgow's county). No sign of Ellen anywhere, with any spelling of Johnson/Jonston(e), so she may have married by then. Hi again Sue If Andrew and Annie had a daughter Isabella - then that makes the 1894 marraige in Inverness look even more attractive. Next time you've got spare cash I'd go for it - you'd get so much info to take you further back. Regards Ellen.

Ellen Report 23 Oct 2005 21:02

Hi Sue I've succumbed - again - and got the cert for the 1894 marraige. It COULD be your couple, but the ages are a bit higher than you expected. this Andrew would have been born 1864/5. what evidence led you to believe he was born 1872ish - just the age at death? Depending on who gave the info to the registrar that may not be quite accurate.
