Nicola sorry I forgot the ages! The Sarah Bunney in Meriden looks most likely as she was the right age (going by the 1871 census) Joseph would have been about 56. Goodness knows how they met as he was from London and so much older than her. We have a grave bill for Joseph's first wife Susannah who died in 1848 and is buried at Key Hill, Birmingham so I was hoping Joseph would be in the area. Never mind, thanks for looking - Netti x

Hi Netti, I've tried some different searching methods, such as searching for josephs born in Middlesex c1795 to see what came up, incase the surname was mistranscribed, and this is what i've come up with: Name Relationship Mar Age Sex Occupation Birthplace Joseph PERRY Head M 56 M School Master London-Middlesex Elizabeth PERRY Wife M 44 F Mistress Birm-Warwick Address: 29 Doe St, Birmingham Census Place: Birmingham Birmingham, Warwickshire PRO Reference: HO/107/2054 Folio: 239 Page: 43 FHL Film: 0087313 ----------------------------------------------------------------- Purser could perhaps look like Perry in old hand writing or damaged sheets? The CD I own has all the census results typed up so I have no way of knowing what the original said. Also, Joseph on this is married again, so unless she died as well as the previous wife before he moved on to Sarah Bunney....?! I've tried other seaches and haven't come up with anything, sorry. Nicola Ps. Have you found their marriage on 1837online or FreeBMD?I've just tried looking on Free BMD, looking for their marriage, and this was the nearest thing that I found: Marriages Dec 1871 --------------------------------- Beamedge Sarah Hatfield 3a 527 Bunnedge Sarah Hatfield 3a 527 Purser Joseph Hatfield 3a 527 Webb Mary Hatfield 3a 527 Wells Richard Hardy Hatfield 3a 527 But Hatfield is in Hertfordshire.....!

Hi Susan, He was the only Hunter born in Ovington, and John was the only name listed, perhaps that was what he was known as? My great great Grandmother was called Susan but my Grandma knew her as Sarah, so that gave me some problems until I realised what was happening! Or it could just be the wrong family! Sorry not to be of any help, Nicola

Nicola you have been a great help. Thank you very much Susan

Netti

Netti Report 10 Apr 2005 20:33

Thanks for looking again Nicola Joseph and Sarah had 2 sons, one born Cradley in 1853 and another in 1855 so we are guessing they married between 1848 and 1853. Don't know why Joseph came to the midlands or when. At least you have narrowed the time frame for us - thanks have to get to the history centre and check the GRO indexes now. Netti x

Gypsy Report 10 Apr 2005 20:54

Hi Nicola, Thankyou for your kind offer. I have very limited info, so anything will help. I am looking for Samuel Adams / Spittle. He was born samuel Adams in May 1846 to John and Sophia Adams (Nee Spittle). He was born in Dudley Port. John's occupation was a miner. I have not found a marriage for his parents, so I do not know if they will be together or not. By the time Samuel married in 1866 he was using the name Samuel Spittle. He then used that name until he died. I am not sure yet, but it is possible that his mother Sophia married James Allen Steel in 1857 in Dudley. Sorry i know its a bit long winded, but im hoping that the more info you have the better! Thanks again, Regards. Pat

Gypsy Report 11 Apr 2005 20:38

Hi, Sorry i don't know their ages. I have found a possibilty for Sophia's birth in 1828, but i am not sure if that is correct yet. The only info i have about them is from Samuels marriage cert in 1866. He married in Dudley. I am fairly certain that his parents were not married, so its possible he may only be with his mother. Nicola, Thankyou so much. I will look into the first couple, they could be a possibility. If you don't mind me asking, could you look for the man i think Sophia later married. He was James Allen Steel, born 1834 in Warwick. His parents were William and Kezia steel. Just thinking that ther might be some link there. many thanks. Pat

Hi Nicola, This is a little bit of a longshot...I am a rather new member here, I was wondering if you could look up anyone with the last names of nevill or neville most likely the former in the warwickshire area. From what i am lead to beleive i am a direct or indirect descendant of Richard Nevill, Earl of Warwick (died 1464). I think i had a lot of family there at one stage...if you want me to obtain more specific info before you check let me know...I am not sure what you need to be honest. Thanks

Hi Sarah, I'm afraid that the census I have is for 1851, and all the dates you mentioned were in the 1900's. Do you have any ancestors further back that I can help with? Hope I can help, Nicola

Hi Christopher, I posted a load of Nevilles on here but you never replied so I don't know if you've seen them or not. If you haven't, let me know and i'll look them up again, but i've taken them of here as they are taking up a lot of space. Nicola
