Hy Lynda You have very kindly looked for my Woodford family before could you see if there is any sign of them on the 1871 Census: Robert Woodford (age 24) Henrietta Woodford (age 22) Jessie Woodford (age 1) They will probably be in the Poplar area of London. Many thanks Susan

Hi Lynda So glad you found some of your lot as you do so much for others. You deserve it !!! Thrice over! I believe my William Fairy born Connington Hunts is on the 1871 Census as William FARRY born Connington HANTS -and in Birmingham. Unfortunately there has been a glitch and the page cannot be accessed. Would you mind trying for me? Is there anyone who can be contacted to point out the problem? I'd love to know who is with and where. Thanks awfully Marlene in NZ

Hi Marlene Thank you for your kind wishes. I was really pleased to find my GG Grandparents & to tie things in nicely there son in law to be was living at the house as a lodger, so a good day The bad news is the 1871 has only parts of London Middlesex Shropshire and Worcestershire transcribed, and there is no william Farry Fairy on there BUT in 1891 there is a William, and although it has been transcribed as Farry I would say it is Fairy Living at Farm House COVINGTON Huntingdon He is aged 80 single and a Farmer born Covington. Could this be the same one as someone found? By the way he had a servant living there called Mercy Mayes!! What a lovely name.

Hi Lynda, I wonder why it is that whenever I see your name on the board I know you are offering to look up things for other people. I'm glad that you have found somebody you were looking for - it feels great when you make a break through and opens up all your research again. Anyway, if you get time would you look up a David Benjamin for me. I went to the FRC last week and tried looking for him on the census but got in a real mess (my first time) asked for so much help and people were very nice but felt exhausted in the end and got nowhere. David Benjamin was married to Frances and children were Benjamin (b. 1848), Maria (b.1852), Thomas (b.1853), Mary (b.1858) and Charles (b. 1864). The children often had the middle name 'South'. I found Frances Benjamin on the 1881 census living with son Charles South (although it didn't say South but Lowth). They have nearly always been in Marylebone area although I have found a death of a David Benjamin in 1872 at the Strand. One of the children was born in St. Pancras. I am trying to find out where David Benjamin was born. I think he was a jeweller. Many thanks. Georgina

Hi Lynda Could you possibly check the 1871 London for Thomas Fickling. He would be aged 13/14, born London Kensington. Should be with parents Thomas (40) and Mary (40). Would be very interested in any other brothers/sisters if you do manage to find him. Hope you can help. Thanks very much. Lesley

Hi Lynda Could you look up someone for me please? Thomas Smith and family of 9 Cornwall Street ,Pimlico. They were there in 1878 but its a real brickwall being Smith! Also I need to check a wife's name for Arthur Winfield of William Street, Notting Hill. Also to check the birthplace for Samuel Cummings in either Central London or Ealing, born about 1814 in Gloucestershire Thanks a million Jane

Hi Lynda I am so glad I read your message this morning as I have found my Mottley family in Chelsea although a couple of them are listed as Mattley. I have kept posting messages for help but as they were in Lambeth in 1858 I was looking for them there. Unfortunately I can't read the name of the street in Chelsea but Hope someone could look for me. Source info is RG10/76 Chelsea South, Folio 35 page 6 household schedule 36. Many thanks Heather

Hi Linda - still trying to trace Taylor's and Berry's in Bow area. They are Thomas Taylor, wife Eliza 35 b Stratford, children John 15, James 10, Martha, Alfred 3. It is possible Eliza Taylor may have been a widow by this time, or else she could be with Sergeant Berry - various spellings such as 'Sargrant'. Thanks....Doreen.
