Lynda, Thanks so much. I can't get him a all on the 1881. They seem to have disappeared. That helps me try again in 1881. Cheers Diane

Lynda, How do you do it? Fantastic. I thought the brother, Henry had died in the 1860's. So it's back to the drawing board for him. Could I impose once more and ask if you have access to the district or better yet an address and if Henry is shown as a widower. Can't thank you enough. Have searched for Richard and Eliza for a long time, but they seem to have moved constantly and it has been hard to pin them down. Bless you Jean.

Lynda, Thank you so much for all the information. I really am grateful. Who says Arsenal and Spurs supporters can't get on. I find it very emotional that you and your great grandmother married in the same church 100 years apart. I think it gives a sense of closeness to family we didn't know. Once again thanks for your time and effort. I have now got to get my head around the fact that yet again there could be a branch of my family I missed. Jean.

Hilary Report 5 Mar 2004 10:05

Lynda , the only address I have is 16 Stanhope Street which you found in 1861 had several families in it including the Francombs' and then seperately Elizabeth Davis and her widowed daughter Elizabeth Dunn and grandchildren so I hoped the Dunn family may still be there in 1871 . Orange Street is more likely to be an 1861 address as William Francomb was born there 1863 . Thanks for your help . Hilary

I'm looking for 2 chaps if it's not being too greedy of your good nature. Henry COONE b 1862 Whitechapel London Michael COONE b 1849 Ireland living in the Whitechapel or St Lukes area of london. I'm sorry I have no addresses for them but the area's are dead on. In fact any COONE's in those 2 areas would be nice if it's not too much trouble. Thank you in advance & much happiness Debi

Hi Lynda Thanks for you help again. I wonder if you could look on 1871 for Joseph Massey and Emma 4 Spring Place Wandsworth Road, we have a feeling he may had died as on Charles birth (1862) he was ill, and I have not been able to find them on the 1881, well not together, I have found a possible Frances, William and Charles but they are not together. This is for Sam my son's girlfriend. Her family do have some birth marriages and some death certificate, oh if only all our ancestors kept their certificates. Its not hording is preserving history. If you can help this would be great. I don't have as much time at the moment to hunt as often as I would like. Irene

Hi Lynda Thanks for that. Been trying another angle. I did find a marriage for Emma Massey in 1866 to Charles Stenteford, in 1881 I have found an Emma aged 42 with son aged 18 Charles Dissley (misspelling?) & Charles Stenteford, they are living at 9 Heath Road Clapham. I wonder if they are there in 1871. Would be greatful if you could check for me. Thanks again Irene

Hello Lynda, Looking for Charles Holmes, a labourer with a daughter Mary Ann aged about 19 in Marylebone. Her address in 1877 was 5, East Cottages, Lisson Grove, Marylebone, but I doubt that will help ! There's a Spurts supporter being nice to you on the General Topics board - wonders will never end ! Rick.

Rick In the 1871 for that address East Cottages were in Little Church Street. They wern't there though nor at 5 Lisson Grove. This Charles Holmes is on the name index Holmes Charles 62 Marylebone, All Souls 67 92b On Ancestry There are 80 Charles and 30 Mary Ann's. were they born in Marylebone? Off to answer that lovely Spurs supporter Lynda

Rick Report 7 Mar 2004 23:18

Hi Lynda, Mary Ann was born in Marylebone according to the 1881 census. I can't find Charles on there, so he may have died by then. She married in 1877 and the cert doesn't say "deceased" by Charles' name so I was guessing he was still alive in 1871. She was aged 29, so born 1851 or 1852. At a guess, he would have been born between 1820 and 1830. Don't know the mother's name. It's a common name (as you've found out) & there's another Mary Ann Holmes born in Marylebone in 1852 to Samuel and Mary to put me off the scent. The Holmes's are a fairly new find to me, so I don't know a lot about them. I thought Mary was called Katie O'Brien until very recently (don't ask !) Rick.

Rick There are no matches with age and area. I have been looking for GG Grandparents in the 1891 and on saturday I just put in his first name Andrew, which luckily wasn't very common and up he came, instead of being Daniels he was transcribed as Danish!! Took me a year to find him. Can't do that with Mary Ann there would be thousands eh? Sorry couldn't find them Lynda

Hi Lynda Would you have a look for (1871) William Green b.1838 Beds and Alice Riggs b. Hackney 1849. I can't find her with her parents in 1871. They married 1872, Clerkenwell, checked address on the marr cert and not there. Settled in Bethnal Green area after marriage. So I am hoping they are both somewhere around those areas in 1871 Thanks very much Diane

Rick

Rick Report 7 Mar 2004 23:55

Lynda, Looks like I need to go through 1837online again. I just bought another load of credits so I might get lucky. Daniels to Danish is quite a far cry isn't it ? I'm usually thrown by a single letter out in the surname. Mind you, Mary Ann Holmes to Katie O'Brien wasn't exactly easy either ! Rick.

Lynda ~ Report 8 Mar 2004 00:25

Hi Diane I could find no Alice Riggs on the name index. There were a couple of William Greens on there living in Bethnal Green, but they were already married and not to an Alice. Sorry Lynda
