Hi Derek,
Have you any information on the Bower(s) family. I have Henry Bower Who married Mary Hollingworth 1675 Ashover Derbyshire and then one son George 1676, then I am told he was excommunicated from his church and became a quaker, so can't find any record for my direct ancestor his son Henry.
Thanks for the kind offer Gill

Spiral, this may be the Isaac Wilkinson story you were referring to:

"In the township of Tapton, the late Isaac Wilkinson, of Tapton House and Leamington, Esq., possessed considerable landed property, which he bequeathed to George Yeldam Ricketts, Esq., who, on coming into possession of the estate, took the name of Wilkinson, and occasionally resides at Tapton House. Hi Gill(fromStaffs).I have found the marriage of henry and Mary 01.11.1675.and the baptism of George 08.10.1676

As you suggest there is no other child for Henry and mary in the Ashover Register........
I do have a nonconformist register that includes Quakers...and it certainly looks as though some later Bowers were Quakers.

Unforunately I can't find Henry jnr..but I offer the following in the hope that you might find some sort of link......
John Bower m Dorothy Wilcockson 23.05.1715

Henry..son of John and Dorothy bapt 30.04.1721

another John Bower m Alice Booth 27.10.1717

Thats all i can find for the moment..any other info you have might help.

All the best

Hi again Derek,
Thank you so much for taking the time to look for me and the information, I do know by the time of Henry's grandson William the family had moved into Staffs and William went back to the church so as to marry. I have a date for Henry's excommunication 25/01/1679. When I am fully awake I will take another look at my files to see If I can find anything else.
Thank you again Gill

I wonder if my grandmother's name is in those registers? Am endeavouring to find her death certificate but have no more information that she lived at 39, High Street Warsop in 1935. She came from Staveley, had connections with Pinxton,
Born to Catherine and Wm Newbury in 1867, married a Wm Jackson in 1894. Had one son, my father William Henry Newbury and lived with my parents in Warsop until we moved in 1935. After that I know no more. Marjorie

Hi Derek,
yes you did give me the info above except the year Charles married Hannah was 1772.
Do you think Ann Hudson is Charles Hudsons sister? you found he was born East Retford in 1753.

Derek
Thanks for staying with me, haven't had much time for the old family tree lark this last few days been too busy visiting Dad in hospital, he's stable at the mo, so life can get a bit less manic.

Yes, if you wouldn't mind following up the 1824 link you have found with the Wilkinson, that would be lovely. Just what records do you have and how have you come by them?, I'm being nosey I know but I thought if they were readily available to purchase then I might get a copy myself rather than impose on your time and good nature. I do really appreciate your time and help, but appreciate that you seem to have so many other people to help that if I could lighten the load so to speak, then it may help.

The reference that Mary from Italy found is the one I found reference to in the book on Chesterfield, but as I have never managed to link this side of the family to Tapton House (home of George Stephenson- he of "Rocket" fame), I think I am barking up the wrong tree.

Thanks again for your time and efforts Derek, it really is very much appreciated, as soon as Dad is more able to be left I aim to get to Matlock records office myself, so may meet you there! and we can solve the Belper problem hopefully!

Thanks again

Hannah Tallents parents are Francis and Ann I was wondering if you had a marriage date or a birth/christening date for Francis. I have looked on family search but the only Francis Tallents were born in 1696 and 1704. I dont think they can be Hannahs father because she was born in 1754 and he would have been too old.
sorry to mither you ( thanks for the explanation, by the way Im a lancashire lass)

Hello my good and loyal friends..would like to take this opportunity to apologise to anyone i appear to have missed.......I do .quite often scroll back through my received enquiries as i increase my database to see if Zi can give any additional info to peeps...naturally i miss one or two....so please let me know ifyou feel i have let you down......a good rollicking never hurt anybody!......
Its probably a good time to let you know that although I do quite well in sorting problems, i do have a couple of Black holes......notably the area around Ashbourne.........inside the town of Chesterfield, and the Belper/Duffield area....and a bit weak in South Derbys.......apart from that circa 1600-1901 Derbyshire is my oyster........and your Chardonnay!!

Hi Derek, sorry for the delay.

I am looking for either a William and Mary Nightingale or William and Elizabeth Nightingale who were the parents of Ellen or Helen who was born c1805/6 i think there were siblings of Ellen, probably Lydia, Mary and John. And a witness at Ellen's marriage to Abraham Allen in 1828 was a Martha Nightingale. I think Ellen was born in Belper, although there is a psibility it was Duffielld. William her father was a nailer.

Unfortunately for me I seem to be in one of your black holes!!! Sob!!

Thanks
