Dont know Babs, youve started me off worrying where mine is now. If you do a search of your computer for Charting Companion, wouldnt it come up if its on there already? Just looked on the website of my-history (where I got mine from) - shows an illustration with the companion extra to the FT2006: All editions of Family Tree Maker 2006 also include Charting Companion™ for Family Tree Maker® (This £14 value is FREE with Family Tree Maker 2006.)

Heather Report 8 May 2006 10:30

Sorry Babs, wasn't shouting, just didn't want you to miss it, lol. BTW you can't have FTM and charting companion open at the same time. Have you tried it? Isn't it pretty? Not enough colours for my families with 14 children though, lol. Heather

Still bleedin looking through all the boxes piled up in my room (we are redecorating/plastering etc.). Im sure there was an extra cardboard flappy thing with something in. Ooops, just seen your message - wonder if mine is on there too? What do you use it for Babs - dont they have enough options for trees on the FT prog already? Its a good job weve got each other!

Heather

Heather Report 8 May 2006 10:56

Heather It has pretty charts but I prefer the standard descendant tree chart on FTM. Heather

If I bought this program would it be easy to transfer all my information across. At present it is in generations starter kit version 8 UK easy tree. Family tree maker sounds great and cheaper than the package I bought. Gwen

Heather Report 11 May 2006 00:45

Gwen

Gwen Report 11 May 2006 08:26

Hi Heather Thanks, the package I have has Gedcom file but never used it. Would it be easy to do and would it be worth it is this FMT that good that I should change. Gwen

Heather

Heather Report 11 May 2006 10:25

Hi Gwen, I haven't used your programme so can't really comment as to whether familytreemaker is better......it just happened to be the one I found in the shop so I've stayed with it. There's a familytreemaker website if you'd like to see what it does at www.familytreemaker(.)com Heather

I am computer illiterate, well almost, so please how do I get this FTM. Kathlyn

Heather

Heather Report 11 May 2006 10:59

Hi Kathlyn I had mine from TWR computing but I think they may have changed their name. If you google familytreemaker...it's the first site on the list. It might be a good idea to google around though and see if you can get it cheaper. Heather

LindainBerkshire1736004 Report 14 May 2006 14:45

Can anybody who uses FTM tell me if it is possible to send one part of the tree to another GR member, only the name they are linked to. They don't need all my family too or the fathers family . Using simple language if anyone can help please. Many thanks Regards Linda

Heather

Heather Report 14 May 2006 14:47

Yes it is possible, there is a thread somewhere on how to do it - though you could press your help button on the program to find out, sometimes its easier in lay terms! Ill see if I can nudge it up.
