Hi Folks,
Good Afternoon (2pm) Everyone.......
Hello to Colin, and Susan - I expect you're fast asleep right now, good to meet you.
Just been off to town, very busy with tourists just now, which is good because local economy depends on them.
Colin.........Like Sandie, I had just about got my head around Aussie time zones......then you hit me with a detailed run down - now I am totally confused......so I shall print it off , stick it in front of me 'till it soaks in.
I have trouble remembering what day of the week it is here. Is it different in the Northern Territory, or shouldn't I ask?

All this talk of cruising has given me itchy feet......so I thought that if I win the UK lottery, how about I invite everyone on this thread to join me on a Pacific cruise. You can bring your partners, husbands, wives, boyfriends, girlfriends, even your granny.........
Any takers?
Names being taken now!

Regards
Tec.

Tec
Never been on a cruise, but please put me down plus hubby(of course ) as number one and two on the list.
Oooh i'd have buy a load of new outfits, if we;re invited to the captains table on the formal evenings.
I know what goes on on these cruises as my friend does 2 a yr and does all the formal evenings, but she is what I always called her and my other friend of the same age a DINKY ( double income no kids yet....and in either case not likely to have any now .lol)
She spend s a fortune on clothes for her trips, but in all fairness is always very smart anyway.
I on the other hand spend a fortune on my 2 children ! as do most :)
On Jeans for Genes charity day in work I had to lend her a denim jacket / blouse cos she didn't own anything denim:))
I will await the tickets, don't mind sailing from Southampton or flying to the US for the start, just give me the date to put in my diary.lol~~~~~~
luv

Good afternoon. I did try to say good morning, I wrote a long screed, but when I tried to post it, it just disappeared, unfortunately I didn’t have time to retype it.
I have just tried to write this post, but after one sentence that too disappeared, perhaps I am no longer allowed to post, but haven’t been told. I am now taking the precaution of writing this in Word and then copying and pasting it in.

Thank you for the offer Tec, OH and I would love to join your cruise. I hate fancy dress though, so if you don’t mind, I shall be ill and stay in my cabin for that evening.

I am just back from a lovely day out on the North Yorks Moors. We get off the beaten track and explore the tiny roads with cattle grids and gates across them. We usually come across a nice pub for lunch, but today we discovered a country house hotel which was open to non residents for luncheon. It had a wonderfully faded gentile air, the same description could fit the other diners. We had a reassuringly expensive lunch and then retired to the lounge to partake of coffee and read the papers. It is nice to be able to treat ourselves once in a while, although come to think of it, we often treat ourselves lol. Still we worked hard for all those years, so we deserve it.

I was going to say Tec, that I hope you enjoy the Herriot books. Personally I think he has a terrible writing style and I find them really hard going. Saying that is tantamount to treason in these parts. The TV series and film is still very popular, I volunteer in the local tourist office a couple of afternoons a week and we get loads of antipodeans visiting the World of James Herriot.

www.worldofjamesherriot.org is the website for it

Hi Linda,
Good Afternoon - Your day out on North York Moors sounds terrific.
Loved your description "Gently faded gentile atmosphere" kind of sums up the OH and I really. Thank you for the Herriot website, I shall look at that later.
Have added your names to my cruise list. Very well, you are excused the fancy dress ball. (I don't like them either, but don't tell anyone)
Once helped a real live copper bottomed Duchess dress up as a cave woman, dressed in a potatoe sack. Oh what a jolly jape chaps.

Well time for dinner........bye for now,

Regards
Tec.

I knew what you meant Linda............

but it gave me a giggle - on a rainy day!

I am a gently faded gentile anyway........................Love it

Goodmorning/evening all

Will you all please stop chatting about cruises, Yorkshire, anywhere in Wales: you are making want to rush to the travel agents, book a cruise to the uk and hire a car and spend about 4 months travelling back to all my, and my OH's, old haunts.

lol

Only joking (about stopping the chat I mean) We are hoping to get back within the next year or so

Regards to you all from a cold WA

Good morning and good evening:)) Linda I am so so jealous of your day out - we have had many a drive over the moors my brother in law and his wife. They go off the beaten track too and we're treated to the most beautiful scenery. My brother was with us on our last trip and we took him and my mum there a few times. He couldn't get enough of the moors.

By the way, Linda - I have to thank you again. You have taught me lateral thinking in family research. I received a certificate yesterday which confirmed a couple of things but gave me another mystery. Using the way you found my T H Morris I solved that mystery and I'm rather proud of myself.

Tec, what a wonderful guy you are - we would love to join you on a cruise and if we win the OzLotto we will pay for all of you to come over here and sail from Sydney Harbour:)) I'm also not a fancy dress person so I'll nurse Linda that night.

Hi, SS great to see you posting.

Have a great day Aussies and enjoy the rest of your evening Brits.

Good Morning/ Evening..

Morning to myself today, so what does one do..The washing of course ( shopping if time permits...lol). All this talk of soup has got me thinking I will get my slow cooker out this morning and have it cooking while I am out this arvo, just what is needed here at the moment with the cold nights, we are having sunny days tho.
Talking of lotto will have to check my tickets from the weekend, you never know I could be a millionaire and not know it...

Busy,busy,busy !!
have a great day Aussies !!!!
Have a great sleep Brits!!!!

Yep put me and my OH on the list for the cruise!

Just a quick hello as I'm supposed to be working.
Re time zones and the NT don't ask.
An off-the-topic question for the Welsh on here. I know certain sounds are not pronounceable (?) by non Welsh, but just for curiosity, how is -ff- (as in fforbes-Hamilton) pronounced? And also -dd- as in dda and -ll- ? as in llanfairpg? Is -ll- *attempts gutteral ch as in loch, but softer* or something different again?
Just curious.
I sort of have been to Wales on my Kon-Tiki tour of Britain half a lifetime ago. Crossed the Severn bridge and stayed one night in a hotel at ??? but near Newport, South Wales then back to the motorway and on to Chester. Hardly counts, does it?
Better go now, though no one to check up on me at the moment. (((hugs))) to those who are touchy-feely. Colin

You do realise Tec that if either one of us win the Lotto we'll have to keep it quiet because this lot will hold us to it.

Janet I also have shopping and washing to do. My youngest son's birthday today and for all that he's 28 he still likes a birthday cake and a roast dinner. He has the day off today so he and his dad are off golfing which gives me the house to myself.

Allan good morning - it's always good to see you.

Did everyone read Jac and Rambling Rose's Milkmaid Tale? Funniest thing I've read for awhile. Clever ladies:))
