Charles Causley is buried next to his mother's grave in the St. Thomas Churchyard, Launceston, Cornwall. (Barely 100 yards from where he was born).

Awww I didn't know that Joy, just having a google

http://www.poetryarchive.org/poetryarchive/singlePoet.do?poetId=122

there's a quote from him

"If I didn't write poetry I think I'd explode"

I find that quite true lol...you can get a lot out of your system in a poem ;)

Thanks for all that Rose, that's really helpful.

I think I might have to dig out last years' writing magazines and read the sections on poetry, give myself a quick course and see what it produces at the end of it :-))

I will have a go, it's just not something I've felt inclined to do, possibly because I'm very direct in my language use, and have a tendency not to flower it up and embellish it too much. Poetry to me demands a lot more of that, though having read Stella's love poem, I see that's not necessarily the case.

So I may be spending most of the day in the bedroom which is the only quiet place in the flat, giving it my full attention, and send it round later....

I have written my piece, do I post it on here or send it to everyone on an email. This is the first item I have evr written to share with anyone so please remember this is a big step for me and is true story.

Thanks Bridget

PS Can I attach it to heare or would I have to write it out again? Oh dear I do feel dim today

TeresaW Report 17 Jan 2010 11:10

Bridget, send it round in an email. We've found because we all use different programmes, it's better to just copy and past it into an email.

It's been a big step for many of us, sharing our work for the first time, so you're not alone.

It is a very good beginning, I'm looking forward to reading the rest, but at the moment I am flitting between sites, boards, emails and my own bits and pieces....I need to have a little quiet time when I can concentrate on it.

Well done though Bridget, it's looking good so far.

Rambling Rose

Have sent my first piece to you.

For those who do not know me I am 64 in June, currently living near to Hastings and managing a rather exclusive Rtirement Home for the Elderly. Promised last year not to go back to work but.......
Anyway a big thanks to everyone who helped me last year.
Have four children of my own and two stepsons all adults and leading lives of their own. My only daighter has a boy who will be 13 in March and a daughter who was 10 in December, then there are 4 grandchildren from my OHs children.

I am a typical Gemini, really enjoy researching my family tree, and am wavering between fear and delight re this writing group.
Bye for now

OH yest the cookery Book is looking ever more promising with a publisher looking at it for me. !

Bridget, put the fear away, we're here to support and enjoy, and we're certainly not competing with one another. You may get some constructive criticism from time to time, but hopefully we can all put it in a way that is useful and helpful, and build up your confidence.

Writing is very personal, but sometimes it takes another to read it to find out if you have achieved what you were aiming for when you wrote it.

Morning all and well done Bridget for taking that step:-) Unfortunately I am unable to open it but maybe somebody will email it to me?

I have been trying out some poetry which I would like to try out on someone as I have not been able to get the verses to go with the same rhythm if you know what I mean! lol I know nothing of poetry but am prepared to try. Have also finished Miriam's next step but havent polished it off yet.

Thanks Teresa.
Well I have read most of those I have recieved and am truly amazed at all the talent .Feel a little wary about commenting though as I am such a novice.
Far from making me even more nervous I am now inspired. So have put the chicken in the oven, prepared the veg and now hope to draft something else.......

Bridget, I have received and read it but some people will not be able to read an attachment. We have found it is best if we copy and paste our submissions into the body of the e mails..

I just might pluck up courage to send a couple of poems round for those with the time to read and comment.

Jen, I keep getting your e mail address rejected this morning, even when sending as a reply to one of yours. Any idea why?
