Claire Report 3 Aug 2006 08:31

I am going to be in Carlisle on Sun 20th Aug and then I am going on to Balloch, Loch Lommond on the Monday for a week. I can't run around the countryside I'm afraid as I am on holiday with my family and a friend's family, but if GB needs to get from Carlisle to anywhere near Balloch, I am sure I could collect and drop her off if that is any help. (We will also be passing through Gretna at some point as we got married there and it is our 10th anniversary)! Claire xx

Many thanks Claire for your offer, you could well be a big help if we have anyone around the Loch Lomond area, especially if they are going to the Fort William meet up. Sorry Atlas is in the car and I dont know Scotland that well. If Gaynor (Gee baby) has no more plans for GB, I could go across and down to Preston area to pick up GB and Beau the weekend, 11th or 12th August, if this is ok with Gaynor and John. Beau Bear will not be doing the Scotland Tour as it is too much to expect members to carry him about as well as GB. Her belongings will be reduced a little when I get her. Meeting up with you around Carlisle or Gretna at your convenience the following weekend would be no problem for me. We can stay overnight in Carlisle on the Saturday. Hubby is prepared for a couple of weekends doing Gaynor Bear duties. Can anyone in the Scotland area help out please??? Jenny. x

Polly I can easily get GB from Tynemouth to Edinburgh. Two hours by car if a weekend, and about the same by train. Jenny x

Sorry to be so late, been sending lots of PMs to to see who is able to take part. Claire's offer could be a really good one as we have a couple of people in Glasgow who, if they are taking part, could collect GB from Claire and either bring her to Fort William or pass her on to someone who is. However I need to wait for some replies first, so can we just pause until the weekend is almost over to see where we are before we make a final decision. Yes, I am in Edinburgh and that could be the fall back. Will keep in touch. Sheila

Good morning everyone. Just about recovered from the weekend with all my Children and Grandchildren. I have heard from Gaynor and should be able to announce the handover date later this evening. It could well be this weekend. I am still considering the possibility of taking up your kind offer Claire. I could get over to Carlisle on the 20th, if we have been able to arrange someone to pick up from you. If not, I shall do my best to get GB to the nearest person in the South of Scotland so she can go on to Fort William, for the 'meet' Sheila, How are things looking? I will be at home until 6pm. But out until around 8pm. Speak later. Jenny. xx

Good morning all. Sorry I didnt get back to you yesturday, had a little accident with the steamer and scalded my fingers. I now have a HUGE blister on one of my knuckles and smaller ones on the others. Gaynor has been in touch and has suggested Penrith as a handover place. I have told Gaynor that Penrith is ok and next Saturday or Sunday would suit us fine. But this would mean that we would have to go across again the following weekend, to Carlisle if we take up Clair's offer to help. I would much prefer to hand over GB to the nearest person in Scotland the same day Saturday 12th or Sunday 13th if at all possible. Hubby is quite prepared to go from Penrith up to the Glasgow area if need be. Let me know what you think. Jenny x

The next handover will be on Saturday 12th August at the Rhegged Centre, just off the Penrith turn off on the M6. Gaynor and John will hand over to me around 3pm. If anyone is able to join us, you will be made very welcome. Jenny.

Have deleted my last four nudges. Rosalyn has been in touch with me and as she has a nasty cold, I shall not be able to pass GB over to her on Saturday or Sunday, as I hoped. Get well soon Ros. xx I am still collecting GB from Gaynor (Gee Baby) on Saturday 12th August in Penrith. I have to speak to a couple of members today, to see if I can get GB into Scotland this weekend. So she can attend Jillys meet up and the Fort William meet up. Will post again as soon as I know if this is possible. Jenny.

Can all members in Scotland willing to take part in the Gaynor Bear Relay please post on this thread. This will help me to help you. I need to know the following please. 1. Where abouts you roughly live. 2. If you have holidays planned during the next two months. 3. How far you are able to travel. 4. If you are available during the week, or just weekends. 5. If you have any plans for GB and if so, how long you are likely to need her for. These are all questions I needed to ask with all the other 15 groups. I am willing to give you my telephone number. I am on 'Talk Unlimited' so willing to call you back so nobody has to worry about large phone bills. Thank you all. Jenny.

Thanks Polly. Sheila has sent me a rough route. But she asked for me not to post it until she has heard from everyone, we think some may be on holiday. I am a little concerned that GB will be flitting from West Coast to the East and then back to the West Coast. But it looks if this cannot be avoided. I presumed GB would go up the West Coast across to the East of Scotland and down to the South, then Sheila in Northumberland (Group 17) who is in Lynemouth on the East Coast of England, would collect and then bring GB to me in Tynemouth possibly by sea. If GB finishes her tour in Scotland, in the Mallaig area? How do we get her back to Tynemouth? I am sure it will all sort itself out in the end. As long as I have GB back by the end of October. As she is due to go to New York, the first week in November. Jenny xx
