Hi there.....I have a mini press release from our local paper...will send it down with GB when she makes her way back to here!! Also have a donation from the Glenfinnan meet.....(yes guys I've still got it!)....but as my bank wants to charge me £25 to put the money into the charity account....I won't be doing that...so I have agreed with Diane to forward on a cheque to her instead and she will do the donation on our behalf :).....sorry Diane not got around to doing that yet.....as you know I'm a bit up in the air just now but.....I promise to forward it on asap!!! Think when Woody has her there was plans for me to pick up GB from Skye and take her back on the ferry to me and Polly and await further instruction.......for who next to forward her on to :-) RDA.x.

Thats great RDA, many thanks to all concerned. I usually write 'The Gaynor Bear Relay' on the back of the cheques I receive, so we know how much the relay has raised. So could you do the same on the back of the cheque you have please, so Diana knows to add it to our total raised. Jenny x

No problems Jenny! :-)))) I'll leave the name on the cheque blank and Diane can fill in what's appropriate if that suits everyone? WIll get that off asap or it'll be nearly another month before I get around to it!! RDA.x.

Hello everyone, especially all those in the Scotland group. I know I have not been around much these past three weeks. I do apologise. Hubby has had two weeks holiday off from work, we did get away for a few days and then I have been ill. A mild attack of Shingles and then my Stomach Ulcer decided to rear its ugly head. I know Gaynor Bear's relay is nearly over, but I am a little concerned for the Scotland group. I am presuming that due to all the upset on GR, this is why there seems to be hardly any interest or posts on this thread. I still have big plans for GB. I shall be arranging a big welcome in Tynemouth when GB returns home. I have found a venue and shall be providing a free buffet for all those that can manage to be with us. ( I can also arrange reduced rates for accommadation at a well known hotel. Further details on request. ) Vivienne is busy making GB's Wedding Dress and I am looking for an outfit for Beau Bear. I am still hoping the Wedding will be at Gretna Green. Once I know when GB is getting back to me I can arrange a date for their wedding. If there is still an interest, I would still like to arrange a more central meet up for members of the relay and anyone else that would like to join us. All belongings that GB has collected will be on display. I have a lot of ideas to keep you all entertained. Please keep posting if you are still interested in what Gaynor Bear is up to. Jenny xx

Woody's Report 22 Sep 2006 17:13

The upset on here has indeed taken some of the 'gloss' of the relay for we Scots, I suppose, but it is for a good cause and when my turn comes I will endeavour to take her to John O'Groats - even though it is a 5 hour round journey! It's the end of the season here now - winter is looming (even though today was over 20 degrees Celsius!). Therefore we may not be able to contribute very much of interest in the way of events as they are all finished. No more festivals, galas or games till next year. Of course, there's Halloween and Bonfire Night - although as Scots we ought not to 'celebrate' the latter! I start work at 5am and at present can't have time away as I have staff off sick and I'm also covering holidays. However, this situation is ever-changing and I would like to be at the end of the relay if possible. Still interested! My gripe isn't with the members - it's with the management!! Christine xx

Thank you all for responding to my last post. It is good to see the Relay thread back on the first page again. I feel so guilty that I have not been around much over the past weeks. I am still determined to see this through to the very end. It has been hard keeping up with it all over the past 17 months, as you all know I have 'spat my dummy out a couple of times' Pmsl. Woody, I know you will be doing your best at the end of this month or beginning of October, when your work slows down a little, and of course no one would expect you to do anything special on Bonfire night. Your post really did make me Laugh out loud. Please all remember no one is expected to 'do anything' with GB. Just being able to get her to members and as many places as possible has always been top priority. Going to stick my neck out now. Thinking what better place could GB spend the New Year. Will give it some thought, but I can assure you I will have to be there. Lol. I have always wanted to spend New year in Scotland since I was very young. Will get back to you on this subject later!!!!! Thanks Jenny xx

Hi Jenny I think the end of any event often flags slightly, and in this case the upset hasn't helped. We haven't lost any relayers (is that a word?) and I have primed up to Raven in Stonehaven. I hope Marion, Jennifer, Lucia and Anne have all been in touch with their 'before' and 'after' to let things flow smoothly. As for Hallowe'en & Guy Fawkes night, well we celebrate both! Mum was English and 5/11 is my birthday! Christine you will be a star if you get her to John o' Groats, I just wish there was someone else up there to share it with you. I am sure there will be some photos soon to perk us up. Keep up the good work Scotland, and show GB what a wonderful country this is. Now New Year in Scotland would be brilliant! Just what is in that wicked mind of yours, Jenny?!!! Sheila
