Woody's Report 13 Aug 2006 21:31

Hope it won't be too boring up here for her! Alas, most of our 'events' take place in the summer months, so - for my part anyway - I'll just have to take her to some of the local places of interest!

Just remember Woody and Lemon. GB has come up a wee bit early for you all. I had decided to give her a rest as a few of you were on holiday. But with the Fort William meet being announced, it was decided to get her up to you quickly. Let her have a break until you are all ready. I have only sent the Bear essentials. But can you all watch how much you write down in her autograph book. There should be just enough pages left for you all as long as you dont all use a full page. Will get back to you all soon. Jenny xx

Hi All, I have posted this once before and would like to draw your attention to it again.---In the nicest possible way. Can I just add a few words to drum up some support at the changeovers A few weeks ago Julie and her daughter Jess, handed Gaynor to me, we were on our own. Same day, I handed Gaynor to Diane, once again we were on our own. A few days later Diane, Lee and Harry handed Gaynor to Marion. Apart from myself there was no one else there. Surely there are some of you out there who could come to a changeover just to give support, it would make it more of an occasion. That's it --finished my little 'few words'. Gloria :-))))

In reply to GG's Plea. When the relay first started the aim was to get GB from one member to another. In some areas groups, they were lucky to have a lot of members all living close together. So it was fairly easy for a little gathering at some handovers. In London there were many members of the relay scattered all over London, so little groups were formed to meet up at various events. EG. The London Eye. In other areas members were spread wide apart. Especially Norfolk, Kent, Devon and Cornwall and Wales. Folks just fit in where they could help best. In Group 15 there were a lot of members already going to pre arranged meet ups. At the end of Group 15 there was no-one between Preston and Scotland. Which was where I knew I would have to do my bit. I did not expect anyone to try and get to Penrith or Gretna, there just wasn't any members around the Lakes or Pennines. Scotland will probably be the same in some areas, there will just be whoever can help at the time. I made the desision to get GB up to Glasgo at short notice so she would be with many members from all over Scotland and that it would help get GB to perhaps a member far away than the majority. I think if each handover is posted on this thread, even if there is no definate date, if a member of GR would like to try and get there at least they know a little in advance where the handover will be. I know this is a little late in the day, but even if you are not a member of the GB Relay, but would like to be at a handover you would be more than welcome. Jenny x

Hi Jenny, Well done on getting GB to Scotland. It must have been wonderful to see her again. Have you counted how many people have actuall seen GB on her travels? Between those that did the relay and those that went to the meets it must run into the hundreds? Regards Jeanie Ps. If you could put the photo of the teddy bears pinic back on I would be grateful Many thanks.

Delighted to see that GB is safely in Scotland. Lemon, Polly, I will bring GB back to Edinburgh to start her adventures. Lassie, her son Callum and I are making plans! Now, if Genes doesn't freeze and throw me out as it has done all weekend, I shall make a few contacts and try to sort out a rough time table. Sheila

Ann GB is with Lemon in Falkirk. Then she will join us at the Dunfermline meet and then the Fort William meet. She has a very busy social programme! Edinburgh will be her next stop, lots to see there, and then probably Perth. More plans once I hear from one or two people. Sheila
