Maid Jacqui! Are thou the fair maiden that our Scarlett doth dream about all dayeth? I hear your foreign accent and think you mayeth be his sweetheart? Take a draught of my potion, it didnt work very well on the last maiden, but I have improved it!

~ Oleander

~ Oleander Report 12 Jun 2005 23:47

Oh Madam that is too kind of you but I have made a vow that only water drawn fresh from the stream shall pass my lips, (plus I saw what a state the last maiden got into drinking your potion!). Look, there, I shall wander to the stream to quench my thirst.

My potion, is quite safe Maid Jacqui The Maid you are thinking of is now joyfully, partying in a future century, with a pair of jolly cockneys. She may return some day. Have you any talents Maid? (i.e. castle designing?)

I have just built a humble dwelling in my homeland, with a little help from local Village folk and I dreweth up a great plan for my sister for her to build a bolt holt from our tremendous storms...will these crafts be of use to you and this good band of brothers. I would wish to aid you in your quest.

Aaaaah! Then you are just the person we seeketh. Although where are our Band of Merry Outlaws, when there is work to be done? I thinketh that Scarlett Willy may be dallying again! (Keep away from him, he is SO fickle)

~ Oleander

~ Oleander Report 13 Jun 2005 00:07

I have no wish for dallyance with anyone at the moment, if I do not feed my face...I mean if I do not stave off my hunger soon I will fainteth away. Mayhap I will partake of your potion...it will not harm me I trust. As you state, the brother band seem to have retired! PS. I love Cats!!!!!

Alas, the Moose's skills are not masonic. Though she can read each spell or charm, say Pax Nobiscum with the Friar, sing Placebo for Sherlock and the Necromancer, and tell the tales of yore, the arts of building all have passed her by. And on this melancholy note she quaffs that final drop of turnip whisky, and in the Forest vanishes.

Cats? Maid Jacqui? Are you referring to one of my (many) reincarnations when I was a feline potion mixer? Merlin (Mr) changed me when we had a bit of a to do over me using his cauldron to do my washing in! MEN!!!!

~ Oleander

~ Oleander Report 13 Jun 2005 00:21

Mrs Merlin I could tell from demenour that you were kindly toward the feline creature we are of like mind. I will not drink too deeply of your potion for fear I will remain forever in the forest. Now may I lay my head upon this mound of grass and sleep a while for I am foot sore and weary from my travels. You are a kindly madam mystic and I take joy in being here in safety.

My Lady Jacquie, I thank ye for your earlier comforting words. You are of course welcome here. I do indeed have friends about me now, I have met many fine and humorous people here, and I am much consoled. But only a few made the same journey as me, and some of them I no more recognize. For they no longer have benevolence in their hearts, and I fear their devotion is scarred forever. I am still restless for the experience and knowledge of those I once knew............and in all their true unhidden glory. I well remember My Ladies Kim Lou Reb and Kat, the Piper's Son,the one who spoke to the dead, the Lovechild who knew no fear, and many others. And Mistress Tina, who stole my heart with her honeyed and pleasing verse. There could surely be no finer Lady in all the kingdom. The knives of bigots are sharp my friend, and they have cut deep. If allowed, they will create turmoil much greater than I have known before. I pray that good folk elsewhere will not suffer further treachery.............And we all await news of the outcome of their remonstrances. L

The Lost Lass sips her draught, listening to the words of the leader of the Merry Men. His quiet recollections stir unbidden memories from a land left far behind, the names forever entwined in the deep recesses of her soul. She sighs, wondering how she came to be in a land so alien to her heart, and yearns for a time lost forever......

Allan A’Dale crawls out from under the bush where he has been sleeping since the previous night’s revelries. The inside of his mouth feels like a cat’s bed. He recalls that he has learned before that he has no head for strong drink. Shame he did not remember this earlier. Looking around, he spies Robin resting against a tree, yet watchful as ever. A lost lass sits sadly gazing at a pair of scarlet knickers trimmed with white lace. The fabric is very fine and delicate – Allan has seldom seen anything so exquisite. Beside her stands the Maid of Kent, dusting herself down in a very irritated way and looking distinctly dishevelled. Where was she the previous night? Allan seems to recall that she drank some of the witch’s potion and disappeared. That witch has a lot to answer for. Allan turns his head rather too swiftly and immediately regrets it. Round and round in front of his eyes fly tiny winged green frogs, pink mooses and a purple cat. What on earth was that wine made from? Swallowing bravely, he opens his eyes again and stands up. His hose feel very hot around his legs, and are inclined to wrinkle when he sits down. He wishes he could change into something more comfortable – but alas, that cannot be. Having donned this disguise when he fled for his life, Allan now must perforce continue with the charade. He wanders slowly off to the stream, looking for a cooling drink and a place to ponder quietly.

'Ah, Fair Maid of Kent,' says Allan, returning from his sojourn by the stream and gazing around the semi-deserted clearing, 'It doth appear the our band of Good Company hath not yet returned from their daily tasks of righting wrongs; hunting down those that bear false witness to the evil Sheriff and all enemies of our great and noble true King, Richard Coeur de Lyon; and shooting a couple of deer for tea. Come, Fair Maid, have a cooling draught of this delicious ale and tell me who your dressmaker is, I have seldom seen such exquisite stitchery in all my travels'.
