Haven't been to Wycombe for some weeks. Prefer Marlow or Thame for shopping. Is it true that someone has nicked the balls from Wycombe High Street ? Its no wonder the poll tax is so high considering the number of times they have ripped up and relaid the High Street in the last couple of years. It will be nice to be able to get to B&Q again, in Loudwater, when they have finished the re-development of the old paper-mill. Does anyone know who benefits, apart from councillors, in this business of twinning with foreign towns? Len

Hello everyone!! I've been at a bit of a loss lately. I've not been able to access G.C. as my terminal blew up three days ago!!! Lol!! Don't laugh, I've been trying to get to grips with the hub's P.C. this evening!!! I have Butlers in my tree as well, in the area. Hope you are all well. Regards Sarah.XXX

Trish

Trish Report 8 Apr 2004 22:22

Hi Sarah, your Butlers wouldn't be from Wooburn by any chance?

Dawn

Dawn Report 8 Apr 2004 22:41

Hi Trish Not too sure, let me look into it.....Watch this space!! Kind Regards Sarah.

Denis That's a question all the locals have been asking since the High Street was pedestrianised - what the hell are all those granite balls (about 2ft diameter) doing in the High Street ? Since work started, the paving has been laid, ripped up and replaced several times - its almost a continuous process. Heaven know at what cost. Decorations are added and taken away, some of them ridiculous. They put spikes on all the low walls round flowerbeds - then removed them , I suppose in case someone sat on them then sued. I can send you a photo if you like. I have a nasty feeling someone is getting a percentage, apart from the contractors, - or maybe merely justifying a large salary and expense account. Len

Hi Trish Sorry to disturb you while you are enjoying your wine!!! Lol!! It's alright, it's not big brother watching.... I noticed you were on 'chat'. My Butlers are, or should I say were!! from Ibstone and Lewknor. Whereabouts is Wooburn. Regards Sarah.XX

Trish Report 9 Apr 2004 21:31

Hi Sarah, that's why my ears were burning is it? lol Wooburn Green - High Wycombe, go right towards Beaconsfield but before you get there take a right on the A4094.

Trish

Trish Report 9 Apr 2004 22:02

Denis, did you ever go to the Boys Club at Loudwater, I went in once when some famous singer was there - Frankie Vaughan?

Len of the Chilterns

Len of the Chilterns Report 10 Apr 2004 22:58

I don't know about watercress but Watery Lane, complete with stream, is still in Loudwater. Presumably it meets up with the Wye as it flows in that direction, towards the A40. Len
