Hi cupcakes! Thanks for those, great stuff! Good to have the marriage, esp since it confirms the Tassie connection. :-)

I don't think the Thos Hy b. 1921 is connected - too young to be a son of Thos Manuel b. 1911 and unlikely to be another Thos born to Thos snr.

Daughter Kate's marriage:

Hi Cherilyn

Could you have a look and see if this couple had any children, probably in Victoria State and post 1926 which was when this couple married & where they're buried. I know when Mary died but not John

WOMACK: Jno Whalley (born 1903, Bawtry, England)
DUCKITT: Mary Adelaide

Thanks in anticipation.

Hi Joy

Sorry but privacy laws mean I can't access births in that period as the person may still be living. I can't find their burials either.

However, there are only 2 Womack's listed in the telephone directory as living in the Melbourne area so may be worth a letter! www.whitepages.com.au (residential search, green tab).

Sorry I can't offer more.

Jodie Report 27 Mar 2012 11:24

Hi Cherilyn,
i am hoping You can help me with my research.my Great Grandmothers name was Eliza Belle Dunning born in1893 in Wickham NSW.
Eliza married Eric Roslyn Moon born 1894 in Waterloo NSW.Eliza and Eric are the parents of my Grandfather Norman Leslie Moon born 15.7.
1914 in Sydney NSW.
I have a feeling that Eric Moon is not my Grandfathers real father because apparently my pops birth certificate was amended in 1915 before Eliza and Eric were Married.
are you able to see if that could be the case.
Eric Moon also disappeared in in the early 60's without a trace.
kind regards
jodie

Cherilyn Report 28 Mar 2012 09:04

Hi Jodie

It is most likely Norman's birth certificate was changed AFTER Eric & Eliza married so that he would have the surname Moon. He would have been born registered as Dunning. I can't check that as no access after 1911, but you can order the certificate, though it will probably only reflect the re-registered details and not the original details.Unless there is a notation on there (unlikely), then there is no way to know who his father was, but it is possible it was Eric, since they married so young.

In fact, Eric lied about his age to the minister, stating he was over 21 ("of full age"), when he was actually only 19. From NLA Trove:

The Sydney Morning Herald, Friday 22 October 1915
A FALSE STATEMENT.
Eric Roslyn Moon, 19, pleaded guilty to a charge of having made, on oath, before the Rev A E. Forbes, at Canterbury, on May 29, a statement that he had attained the age of 21 years. He was bound over on his own recognisance in £40 to appear for sentence if and when called upon to do so.

I notice you have Eric born at Waterloo, NSW in 1894. He was actually born in Rockdale district in that year, son of Wm & Matilda Mary MOON nee BARDEN (reg 29862). (There was another 'Eric R M' born 1891 in Waterloo to Alfred & Elizabeth Victoria MOON nee SMITH; he died as Reginald Eric Harcourt MOON in 1978.)

Let me know if you need any more on the extended family. Sorry I can't help with the question about Norman's dad though.

Hi Cherilyn,

Can I please ask another favour? I am looking for any information on Herbert S (Stanley) Watson who died Broad Arrow 1917 No. 5, we believe that he was born c1866 either Sydney where a couple of siblings were born or Castlemaine/Sandhurst district to George & Susan.

Dont' know if he married or had any children.

The family has a trophy presented to Herbert in 1909 engraving as follows:-
Herbert Stanley Watson BAPRC [Broad Arrow ? Rifle Club] 1909

Thanks, Joy

Hi Joy

Who were Herbert's parents? There was a HSW born in Victoria but it was in 1887...

BAPRC was the Broad Arrow-Paddington Rifle Club :-)

This is Broad Arrow in the goldfields of WA. His death certificate (reg 5, as you already know) would give you more information, tho quite pricey. Depends how keen you are to know!

He is buried at Broad Arrow [error notwithstanding!]: WATSON, Henry Stanley 1917 - 51 years
See www.swangenealogy.com.au/Broad%20Arrow%20Cemetery%20Headstones.htm

The infant John Watson who is also there (d. 1902) was a son of Thomas and Minnie Watson (nee Randle), who married in Geelong in 1885 - any connection? (Minnie remarried in 1912 to Arthur CLINTON in Broad Arrow; she died in Fremantle on 14 Oct 1939 aged 74 - let me know if you want more info).

No marriage or chn for Herbert in WA, or Victoria.
