Hi Mary

Re Thomas Jones, thanks for looking. I think the only hope was finding a Benjamin Jones, oil refiner. Thomas's address at marriage was 45 Southam St, Kensington but as this was 1885, I don't expect him to be there on a census. He isn't at home with his family in West Ham 1891 and by 1901 the marriage had been annulled as he was (apparently) found to be a bigamist, so I can't pin him down in that year either.
He may have been working on a ship (as fireman) in 1891 but I've searched before and not found him.

Thanks anyway.

Hi Gary

All very odd!!

I suppose the only way forward is the birth certs for the boys.

Good luck

Mary Report 19 Apr 2008 15:03

Hi Narelle
Have you tried scotlandspeople for your family??

It really is the best place to look for Scottish ancestors.£6.00 of credit should get you enough to find your folks and you will get a lot more info than from the Ancestry versions of the censuses.

Mary Report 21 Apr 2008 18:21

Hi Nichole
This is all very odd.
I cannot find them together on 1861 census and I am having problems with Henry in 51 & 41.
There are a couple of Henry Morris chaps born IOW between 1826 and 1830 but none born 1828 which is the date you gave.So I cannot be sure which one (if any) is your Henry.

Found this for 1861:

Bishops Sutton,Hants
Charles Bunyard Head 56 Lieut in army on half pay b Bombay,India
Emma L Bunyard Wife 31 b Bognor,Sussex
Ellen Morris Serv Married 34 House servant b Bishop Sutton,Hants

Do you have the marriage cert for them???

Sorry not to be more helpful.
