Master C & P of the boards - keep going you are on a roll here - your appreciation of English is obviously more pedantic than mine - best leave it to one who feels he knows best - I'm bowing out gracefully %26lt%3B3u loads %3B-%29

So why haven't you?

Reggie, The answer is "Goading"

In order to Provoke or annoy in the hope of getting a adverse reaction

I'm sorry I cannot oblige,

I try to reply with a well thought out measured responses as apposed to knee jerk reactions and illegible rants posted whilst in a rage

Now that Natasha has picked up on the 'Quote' button maybe she could now do something about the 'Edit' button.

Could we have something done so the substance of a post cannot be changed - maybe all edits could be more of a postscript or addendum.

CupCakes Report 16 Jul 2013 13:00

I can see the usefulness of quoting some short text when commenting on a post so a reader has the gist of what the poster is talking about

What I hate are those using it to prove a point or to deliberately embarrass/target an individual which some members publically do.

if you agree that the Quote facility is useful for one thing, then you have to lump it when people also use it to quote passages or parts of posts from people posting either on another page of a thread, or who are known for editing their posts to change the meaning.

Changing the meaning of a post by editing also makes fun of other posters, embarrasses them, and makes them look like fools.

We all hate that ................... and so quoting the passage to which we are responding avoids the embarrassment and looking like a fool or an idiot

Natasha

Thank you very much for taking the "quote function" to the team.

It is found on many other sites, and is very useful.

CupCakes

CupCakes Report 16 Jul 2013 21:13

This is all so terribly serious - if anybody feels a fool because somebody changed the wording of their post which may slightly change the meaning - that's their psychological problem not the posters.

Does it really matter - I don't think so <3 <3

MarieCeleste

MarieCeleste Report 16 Jul 2013 21:34

Cupcakes, may I ask if it doesn't really matter then why does it perturb you so?

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 17 Jul 2013 04:51

actually, CupCakes,

it isn't the person who

"changed the wording of their post which may slightly change the meaning "

that is the problem

it is the person who COMPLETELY changes the meaning of a post, even of an OP, by doing a complete edit (which means deleting most of the first post and replacing with an updated, changed version), or changes a one line post into a ten line post, again completely changing the meaning.

I think many people have seen that happen

That is what makes the other posters look stupid.

In this case, it is the psychological problem of the person who does that kind of editing, and does it regularly. A problem in which they believe that no-one else will notice the change

I'm not sure if they get a kick out of doing it, and out of making others look stupid ................. probably they do get some sort of enjoyment!

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 17 Jul 2013 07:54

Please do NOT tell me what to write or how to write

That's intimidation, and denial of my right to free speech.

If you don't want to read it ............. don't

that could be your loss, not mine

BUT DO NOT TELL ME WHAT TO DO.

comprenez?

Hi Nanelessone,

I touched on this idea in a previous suggestions round-up. A member asked that posts could only be edited for a certain period of time or if we could implement the edit function similar to facebook, where once edited the original text can still be viewed. I’ve spoken about this idea with the team, we have plans to improve the community boards so we’ll be discussing the best approach to this. I’ll update you when I know more.

Please, Natasha..........

Before you 'improve' the boards yet again, would you make sure that the site is in full working order.

For many months, I have been unable to view 'sent messages'.......................surely a vital function, in order that one can ascertain whether or not one's message has been opened by the intended recipient

And if and when you decide on 'improvements'........TEST them FULLY before launching them on us - PLEASE.

Thanks Natasha

Anything that removes the ability for some to cause Agro is welcome and I agree with Reggie that there are also other things to sort out.

GlitterBaby Report 17 Jul 2013 15:25

I still can not delete messages from my Inbox or Sent box.

Problem was reported back in March but as I had not tried to delete messages for months then no way of knowing how long I had this problem for.

GR Team did offer to do it but why should I have to contact them on a regular basis for it to be done.

Can this please be sorted.

Customer satisfaction is well down the list at the moment.

Complete and utter waste of time posting anything on this thread

GlitterBaby

GlitterBaby Report 30 Jul 2013 14:03

There were problems with this site just after midnight and once again no mention of it by the GR Team on the Annoucement Board.

Error message after error message. Sometimes unable to get back onto Home Page.

I know of at least 3 other regular helpers that were having trouble between midnight and 1 am this morning.

We are not aware of any problems. If you do experience problems could you please email our support team at [email protected].

You can also PM me any questions you may have.

What is the point of emailing an error message that was on going mainly after midnight.

If you were not trying to use the boards at that time I am sure you would be unaware of any problems the members were having

GlitterBaby

GlitterBaby Report 30 Jul 2013 14:53

I do not know how many times I have asked this question before and never had an answer.

But how many times does an error mesage have to be logged before the Team investigate the problem ?

Surely the Team must be aware there was a problem because of the number of times I must have had the error message logged early this morning, probably 10 ?.

So I suggestion that someone from the Team checks to see just how many error messages were logged between midnight and 1 am this morning !!!!!!!!!!

The technical team see error reports on a daily basis so they know exactly when there are problems. It’s always important to let the customer support team know too. The error messages are logged as a graph so any spike will indicate a problem, which is then investigated.
