Susan ................

I've mentioned this way of putting emoticons on several times over the last few weeks!

other "codes" to use are ........................

always closing up spaces of course :-)

PLUS, always leave a space between the last letter of a word to a comma or period ........... otherwise the symbols don't work

: - D ................. :-D

: - ( .................. :-(

: - P ................. :-P

< 3 ................. <3

: - O (capital O) .......... :-O (shock)

Thanks Sylvia

I could not get it to work for me back then but for some reason it worked yesterday.

I have put it on a notepad I use now so I won't forget :-)

Hi Everyone,

I wanted to let you know that after three hugely enjoyable years working on Genes Reunited I am now moving to a new position in one of our company’s sister sites, The British Newspaper Archive. Whilst I’ve only been working as the Genes Community Manager for the last 6 months, I’ve really enjoyed getting to know you all and working with the product and technical team to get your concerns and suggestions implemented.

The new Community Manager is Shelley, who’s worked with the company for over a year and is a family history enthusiast currently researching her Burton family history.

All the best,
Natasha

From 14th October 2013

Well I am beginning to think that no one works at GR or understands simple questions !!!

Sent a message to Support asking if a lookup thread, gave the link, could be closed as the original poster is no longer a member but people are still adding their requests to it.

Part of the message I received this morning:

"I have passed the details of this specific issue to our technical team to look at and investigate"

Why does this simple request have to go to technical team surely it is quite simple for some one at GR just to put "Thread Closed " like shown on the Icons on left hand side of this page

So today I will ask the same question - why can threads not be flagged as closed. There is another one on Find Ancestors Board that has surfaced after 4 years. I do not want to report it and it get deleted.

Likewise Glitter baby I will ask my question again of Shelley .
Will you investigate the Compatibility mode on the boards so I can see my Emoticons please.

I have asked this question numerous times over the last year with nothing being done .
Running Internet explorer XP.

I am not changeing my Browser,I should not have too, my computer works just fine on all other sites just not yours ,the problem is at your end.

Shelley

Whilst waiting for the developers to look into this, could the posts awaiting review be reviewed, please? (taking into account that others have been reviewed recently).

some bright spark decided to make it difficult for members to cotnact GR.

You now have to go into Help

scroll all the way down until you see Feedback in the listing on the left

Click on Feedback

Click again on Feedback in the drop down box

Then you will see this .............

Feedback

If you have a suggestion that is not mentioned above and would like to let us know or if you would like to give us your feedback on the site please send us an email by clicking here

After all that ................ you can contact GR by clicking on "here"

Meanwhile, I shall continue to use straightforward email
