Good morning all - Nice to see you Ja....x ! :-)

Thank you for the lovely breakfast Sylvia - I have just had my garlicky potatoes and bacon and I am grabbing a handful of Chicken Karage to take with me to munch on through the day.

See you all later.

we didn't get Rolf Harris singing 2 little boys

Didn't Charles call her Mummy 10 years ago at the 50th concert?

Overall, it was pretty good!

Ten years ago I was working for a really awful man who told me I was assistant manager of this pub/restuarant and got me working all hours over that holiday so I did'nt see any of it.....it came to a head on the 4th day of running my butt off at the end of the holiday...when a customer said to him how good I had been and how hard I had worked ect

His reply was " John (made up name) was better" then he went to get a print out of the daily sales...which of course showed John had done more...but I was the one doing the management duties seating people in the resturant and collecting glasses from the garden ect...I told him where to stick his job and walked.

I managed to get a proper management job a couple of months later

When I rung up the HR dept to report him it was then I found out I was just bar staff and he had told me I was management so he could make me work all hours.

ja...x

night Sylv x shall go to bed myself now

Whilst not being an out and out royalist you have to admire the Queen.

She is 86 years old but the way she walks, ascends and descends stairs, speaks and her general deportment belie those years. Apart from the wearing of reading glasses during yesterday's service and ear plugs during the concert (Who wouldn't) her general demeanour and appearance is that of a much younger individual. She could easily pass for a woman 25 years her junior.

Whilst there is no denying that her position undoubtedly has its perks and privileges, hers is not a job that many would want or indeed be able to do. She has done her job well for the past 60 years and deserves a great deal of respect for that alone.

I started the weekend not really wanting to watch countless hours of "Festivities" but as I caught the odd glimpse of what was going on as I was channel hopping I became interested in seeing what was going on. The BBC's presentation was a bit benign at times but the organisation of the events themselves was excellent.

I very much doubt that I will be around should there be a Platinum (70th) Jubilee but it would not surprise me if there was one. Long may she reign!

Gee

Gee Report 6 Jun 2012 09:23

I wouldnt want her job either Jonesey, never being able to be yourself, never having a life..............no way, not for me

While I am NOT into the royal family, I admit she does work hard, you cant take that away from her

Rather be in my shoes though :-D

Jonesey

Jonesey Report 6 Jun 2012 09:40

As the saying goes, "Never judge anyone until you have walked a mile in their shoes".

When you have done that you can say what you like about them knowing that they are a mile away and haven't got any shoes in which to chase you. :-D

Whilst I am a Royalist, I don't always approve of all the shenanigans some of them get up to but.....you're quite right Jonesey, the Queen is incredible for her age.

The thing which touches me most is the way she has totally fulfilled the vows she made at her Coronation. She has kept all the oaths she swore and her commitment, dedication and loyalty can only be admired. If only we were as faithful to all the promises we have made in our lives.

I think jax is right - the Queen would have far rather listened to Shirley Bassey rather than Kylie and, personally, I think she would have preferred different personalities to introduce the acts.

I thought most of them were rubbish and not a bit funny - Miranda Hart was bsolutely dire! As for the others, It's as though they found it difficult to be funny without being 'blue'.

Peter Kay should have been given longer and why not bring Ken Dodd in and other personalities she would have recognised more than Rob Bryden and Lee Mack.

Whilst I really enjoyed the celebrations, I do have some criticisms :-D

Close yer eyes Cyns...............

While watching embarrassing bodies last night, a none scientific survey was conducted on how often people changed their bedding

7% of people who took part said: once a year :-0 :-0 :-0

The others werent much better coming in at three times a year and bi monthly!

This may sound rather dumb but I thought that they would have songs from each decade since she has reigned.

They could have even had the song "you will never grow old"

I did like My House in the Middle of the Street.

I have only liked Marina in "Call the Midwife" anything else she has done has been "unfunny"

Jimmy Carr is okay for deadpan and on QI but I watched a program of his the other night called Distraction.. had three completely naked bodies doing sack races and wheelbarrow races with the dressed contestants.. I turned it off.

Preferred the flotilla and Jonesey's link to the Daily Mail to be honest..

Persie who changes the bed clothes regularly .. I love clean sheets.

Only change their bedding once a year?????????????????? :-0 :-0 :-0 :-0

That's dis-re-gust-ing! phew.......not nice. Nasty in fact. Yuk.

I love clean sheets too Persie. Snuggy flannelette in the winter and crisp white cotton in the summer. Not keen on polyester sheets or fitted sheets. I HATE ironing fitted sheets so don't buy them.

Of course, I do iron sheets :-P

That was a good idea about songs from each decade.......not dumb at all. It was leaning towards the younger generation a tad too much.

Going out now......see you later...~~~~~~

At lunchtime today one of the descendants my maternal ancestors sent me a photograph of my great grandparents taken in 1888. Also in the picture is my maternal grandmother aged 2, my great aunt aged 5 and my great uncle aged 1. Previously the earliest photograph that I had of them all was my grandmother's wedding photograph taken in 1908. What a lovely surprise.
