Cynthia Report 13 Dec 2012 08:38

Good morning Dea - thank you. Sorry I was late, I got held up running round with the vacuum!

Gins......you've got snow tyres? Bully fer you sunshine! I haven't and I can't see much point in spending on them when I don't intend to go out in the snow if I can help it.

I saw the spray stuff advertised and consulted my garage man. He said that one of his mechanics used it last year and it was brilliant at getting his car up the slope of his drive and onto the road. It wears off on tarmac. I just need something to get me onto the cleared road as it were. If the road is icy, I stay put! Oh, the luxury of retirement...... :-D

Was going to take my friend out this afternoon but I have the sniffles so had better not. Am hoping to take her out on Tuesday evening for a Christmas meal - she's really looking forward to it - so I'd better stay away from her today.... :-(

Going to pick up my Christmas cake from the coffee shop which opened nearby earlier this year. They have made their own and have been 'feeding' them for the last couple of weeks or so. :-D

Back later ~~~~

Bubble & Squeak...........yeahhhhhhhhhhhh :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D

Fank yoo Dea <3

I still dont know what this spray stuff is?

Dea

Dea Report 13 Dec 2012 08:57

I don't see how you are going to spray it onto your tyres without getting any on the paintwork and whatever it is it will probably harm the paint ??

Also - you can't completely cover the tyres as there will always be the part of them which is in contact with the ground - unless you spray, then move your car along a bit and spray again, you will never get them covered all over ??

Dea x

Gee

Gee Report 13 Dec 2012 10:29

Ive just read about it Dea. Yes you have to move the car a bit to get the other bit of the tyre

It doesnt harm the paint work, by all accounts. But, if it wears off on tarmac......whats the point :-S

I guess its just in case you get stuck in snow/ice and it does the job of a shovel?

Cynthia Until a couple of years ago I always made my own cake. Your post reminded me of the year I gave my sons into trouble for not cleaning the worktop when they had spilt their juice!

They insisted they hadn't spilt anything so I went in and dipped my finger on the sticky patch and it was the Brandy I had been feeding the cake with :-D

My Dad said he hoped he didnt get breathalised driving home that cake disappeared quick ;-)

Gee

Gee Report 13 Dec 2012 16:21

Ooh Linds

My sister 'feeds' her fruit cakes with brandy, they are yummy (she is a trained chef) but most things she cooks are

She made our wedding cake and instead of 'peel', which I hate, she put 'dates' in.....it was the best cake I have ever tasted

Im not keen on marzipan though, I tend to pick that off!

Linda

Linda Report 13 Dec 2012 16:26

Gins I dont do a cake now as its only OH and myself that like fruit cake :-)

My Mum used to eat my marzipan and I would eat her icing :-)

OH is at a night out and I am home alone so going to watch some girlie movies :-D

Gee

Gee Report 13 Dec 2012 16:46

Home alone....behave yourself ;-)

I like soft icing, but not that rock hard stuff.

been to dentist today...£17 for an xray and temp patch up. £420 in Jan for the dental work to the tooth I broke...that was a buddy eexpensive garibaldi :-0

Cynthia

Cynthia Report 13 Dec 2012 18:59

Re the spray Gins......I only need it to help me get up the little slope to get onto the main road. It's so annoying when the road is clear but I can't get onto it because of the slope.

I like icing. I like marzipan. I like fruit cake. yummmmy.

My nose is dripping like a tap and my eyes look like the proverbial.............holes in snow.

Sniff.

If it runs true to course, I should be much better tomorrow... :-D

That was an expensive do at the dentist Gins.....do you pay as you go or do you pay monthly?

Gee

Gee Report 13 Dec 2012 19:08

I paid the £17 today....the rest can wait until after Christmas

What a day...........got rid of my car today (they wanted it NOW) so I got a hire car, until my new one is delivered on Jan 8th (ordered it in Aug)

Rang ins co....nope, wont insure a rental car! Rang lots more....nope

After about 3 hours...........my ins, rang back (after I told them, cancel my policy) and said, we have spoken to the under writers and we will insure you for a month

At last......I got to the dentist, in the rental VI

No work done today, at all. Didnt get a shower until 3.30pm :-0

Gee

Gee Report 14 Dec 2012 07:31

Cripes.....JB left for work an hour ago, then I heard the beep on the door and he had come back in. I got up to see if he was OK........

.......he had slipped on the drive, went all the way down on his bum, accross the path at the bottom and onto the middle of the road :-0

After he put his ice grips on his shoes, a guy came sliding by at the bottom of the drive. Its like 'The Day After Tomorrow' out there today

Thank goodness I am not teaching today. Might try and get to the grit bin around the corner....later!

Cynthia

Cynthia Report 14 Dec 2012 07:50

Poor JB.....hope he wasn't too bruised. Sounds dangerous round your way Gins.

Haven't looked out yet and it's too dark for me to see out.....will stay here and see what happens. Mind you, the traffic is zooming past so the road must be fine.

You could have at least put the kettle on!!! Dear oh dear! :-0

Here goes:

Roots in fridge for :

Bacon
Sausage
Egg
Tomatoes
Mushroom

(found shrivelled carrot, demised cauli floret and something resembling a dead plant- parsnip?) tuts.

Pauses to wash out veg drawer.

Lovely fresh croissants/rolls

Brown/white bread

Cereals - both sugary and healthy

Porridge - thick or thin

Please help yourselves......;-)

Dea

Dea Report 14 Dec 2012 08:41

Thank you Cynthia - lovely breakfast <3 <3

Are you feeling any better today ??

That sounds very nasty Ginns - he could have been run over :-0

It has been quite icy here too but I think it has melted overnight and we haven't got the thick frost which we have had all week!

Mind you, everywhere does look very wet so if the temperature falls again it certainly will be slippy :-(

Dea Xxx

Gee

Gee Report 14 Dec 2012 09:28

Hmmm....thats what JB thought (wet) when he set off down the drive this morning!

We live on a quiet road, thank gawed, or yes, he could have been run over :-0

He phoned me when he got to the office, he managed OK with the grip things on his shoes but said people were just sliding and walking, holding onto walls and lamp posts!

Thank you for breakfast Cyns.......just going to look for the bubble & squeak ;-)

Gee

Gee Report 14 Dec 2012 17:23

I bought some grit salt from Tesco today......can’t have JB in the middle of the road again :-0

The council grit bin is only a few steps away, but, its right on a corner that has an angle of about 80 degree

I’m so glad it rained and shifted the ice

Cynthia

Cynthia Report 14 Dec 2012 17:57

We haven't had the ice - just rain, rain and more rain :-(

Glad he wasn't hurt though. I have been buying salt on and off all year and have a plastic box full of packets of the stuff in the garage..... :-D

My cold is progressing nicely and I think I will be over the worse by tomorrow. Nose and eyes like running taps..................sheesh......
