Did anyone look at this thread apart from MC?

They had 9 children on the 1911 4 had died but they included them plus it looks like they gave them jobs too

Ancestry is a bit like my OH with the Sat Nav

Takes away his ability to use his brain.

looks very strange doesn't it?

If only we could talk to our ancesstors!!

jax Report 8 Dec 2010 01:22

Its all well and good naming them but giving them occupations too is taking it a bit too far...As mentioned by the poster he was convicted of rape and got 10 years for that where as someone else on the same page got 6 months for manslaughter!! If he stole a handkerchief he would have been transported lol

Yeah you are right there LK I was looking at a tree the other day where this lady born scotland then lived in Kent then over to the US then back again living in scotland and kent at the sametime. I think this may have been the same person who took my ancestor to the US

I think the question about children was a bit vague especially fo those whose reading skills were poor and to those with several marriages. The question was supposed to be for the wife

Am I first up then?

Night Sylvs......sleep well and thank you for breakfast.

Hahahaha got it before Dea did...:))

Interesting reading about the snow storms from Janey - I'm amazed she had the self control not to punch that old chap. My mum used to live in Kitchener and would regale me with stories of the Canadian winters she experienced.

To avoid confusion with our overseas friends, maybe the expression we should have used was dirty snow rather than black snow.....but black ice is something else and very scary.

There are stories coming in now about pensioners being found frozen to death either because they have fallen outside or whatever. That is so sad.

No grandchildren today as they are going to the Trafford Centre (big shopping mall Sylvs) after school with their mum. Goodoh! more presents can be wrapped and a nice quiet day - even though I dearly love having them here.

Off for a shower.............over to you Dea.........the breakfast table is all yours.

Morning all

Still thick snow here, the main roads are clear but the side streets are a no no. I cant get into the office at all and am seriously thinking about buying a 4 x 4...........

JB says we could buy an old land rover and stick it on the drive and just use it in the snowy weather...hmmm not a bad idea

Croissants for breakfast and Im going to be a real scrubber and dip them in my tea.......if mom was here she'd kill me!

My plans for today are..................nowt! Cleaning and reading I think

No Renes yet then....charming ;)

Oh look.....Fans wotsit popped in......very kind of her I'm sure. She didn't have to mention the word 'sun' though, did she? Her sun will be nice and warm and comforting. We have bright sunshine here but it is bitterly cold. In fact, it's freezin'.

Renes.....how much exploring can they do what with Fan's asthma and HID's bad leg? You haven't sent them up a mountain have you???

I'm all at a loose end because of not picking the kids up........but it's very peaceful and relaxing. Heard some sad news this morning that a friend of mine has died. I haven't seen her for ages because they moved to Whitby when they retired and she sadly developed dementia and ended her days in a care home. I have kept in touch with her husband and admired him for his copability. She was such a bright, bubbly, lively, chatty person and had written several books. during her lifetime.........soooo sad.

You still shovelling snow Gins???
