Hi Margaret,
For the fourth time I try to send you a message of gratitude for your excellent efforts for me! The first time my message crashed because my automatic renewal subscription had failed due to change of credit card!
I did not read the GR receipt message in due time!
The second time my reply failed due to my "finger" trouble.
The third time the GR site was under repair - I hope this message reaches you.

I am most grateful for your very prompt answers which give me all that I need at this time. Hope I can impose on you again in the future if I need more help about my ancestors in Oxon.

Hi Margaret

My great great great grandmother Ann Hazlewood was, I believe, born in Mollington in about 1822 to parents William and Hannah.

I would be greatful if you could find her baptism, those of any siblings and anything you can uncover about per parents.

Many thanks

Terry

Thanks for message Margaret.Another contact, Elizabeth says she cannot find Ann Townsend , born c.1825 in Bicester.i don`t know her parents name. It`s confusing because her children all have the name Townsend, yet i don`t know who she married. in the census files she always seems to be a Townsend and there isn`t a husband around. i suupose if a marriage between a man called Townsend in Bicester to a woman called Ann by1860 could be found that would help. she had a daughter called Ida born in Bicester about 1864. perhaps ida`s birth record would give her father`s name.this probably doesn`t make any sense but any help is appreciated

PAUL
The only Milton near to Burford is Milton Under Wychwood, and sadly there is no baptism there for William Turvey.

Thanks for looking Margaret.... I wonder if he may have been baptised elsewhere? He gives his birthplace as 'Milton by Burford' on the census forms, which I thought would be Milton Under Wychwood.

Hi Margaret

Have another favour to ask you.

My GGG Grandmother was Ann Crossley (I think, have a birth certificate of a son but writing isn't great.) She was born in Berrick in about 1804 and married a Francis Hoare possibly in Berrick in about 1833.

Would appreciate anything you can find out. Will be looking at my Hazlewood problem this weekend.

Many thanks

Terry

TERRY
Sorry there is no sign of Ann Crossley in Berrick Salome, nor in Chalgrove (Berrick is a chapelry of Chalgrove), nor in Newington which had Upper Berrick in its registers.
I have looked on the marriage disc, and there are no male nor female Crossleys marrying in oxfordshire c 1830.
Not much help. sorry

Terry

Terry Report 12 Mar 2010 12:35

Hi again Margaret

The printing of grotty writing is so bad on the birth certificate it may be Crowley or Cressley rather than Crossley. Wondered if her husband Francis Hoare was in register as a was of finding her maiden name?

Hello Margaret,

I am looking for a marriage of Frances Griffin to Anne Durrant, c.1829, Little Whittingham, which I believe is in Oxfordshire. There may be a John Hambledon connected in some way, either as a father / witness.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Hello Margaret,

I just added a request for a marriage look-up for Griffin / Durrant but put on that they married in Little Whittingham - having just checked my notes it appears to be Little Wittenham, Oxfordshire. I don't know if that makes much difference but didn't want to confuse the matter for you!
Thank you.

In Great Rollright these are the baptisms of the children of Benjamin and Mary Ann, sometimes down as Marianne. They seem to include your Henry.
16/11/1850 John
7/3/1852 Thomas
20/5/1855 Henry
24/10/1858 Benjamin
15/4/1860 Sarah Jane
10/7/1864 William Edward
24/6/1866 Frederick
15/5/1870 Francis
23/2/1875 Agnes Ruth

Margaret Report 12 Mar 2010 16:39

SAMANTHA
there are children born to a John and Marianne at the same time but do not include a Henry.

Also in Great Rollright
12/6/1881 Arthur Ernest son of Henry and Sarah, she is buried 2/5/1882 Gt Rollright
25/5/1884 Louisa Mary dtr of Henry and Mary Ann, he may be remarried but not in Gt Rollright
there are no transcripts for Gt Rollright after 1887

In Churchill 24/3/1895 Gladys Ruth daughter of Henry and Mary Ann,
this may be another child for Henry from Gt Rollright.
