If we work on the idea that Edward Smith who married in 1707 to Mary Gardner was over 21 at marriage there is a baptism in Thame
24/1/1687 Edward Smith son of Edward Smith senior (who was buried in Thame 15/10/1694)

There are other Edwards baptised in Thame, but I have managed to bury them in Thame, leaving just this one.
I cannot go back further as there are too many Edwards muddying the waters.
Hope this is helpful

Hello Margaret, i posted a thread earlier on "Trying to find" and Mel and flick told me about you, they even nudged you up for me! I wonder if you can help me, i am trying to go backwards on William Grant born 1894 Wroxton, Oxfordshire. I know he married a Sarah born 1800 also Wroxton. As far as i can tell, there are only two marriages for William that fit the place and time frame. Sarah Moorby and Sarah Baker both born Wroxton. In th 1851 census for William, his next door neighbour is Elizabeth Grant in her 70s who could possibly be his mother. I dont know if it helps but William and Sarah's children (all born Wroxton) are ... John ... 1824, David ... 1831, Mary ... 1833, Sarah ... 1835 and Emma ... 1839. Most birth and marriage entries for later members of this family were registered in Banbury. If you have the time Margaret, any info you find will be very much appreciated. Kind Regard's .. Susan
