Simon,

I would DEARLY love to help you further but you have SO many threads on these people that I am going round in circles!

This is just one of the very many!!!

http://www.genesreunited.co.uk/boards.asp?wci=thread&tk=1183249

When you keep starting a new thread, more people come in and spend time searching for the info which has already been found. - This makes people feel that they have wasted that time and they will stop helping you.

PLEASE can you just keep to the one thread so that the info is all together and everyone can see.

I mean no offence but it is just SO frustrating.

If you need help on how to find/add to your threads, just ask but PLEASE do not keep starting new ones.

I will try to paste it all over to this thread, we know everything about Francis but not her parents i started a new thread as i thought it was the right thing to do.

I take an board what you are saying and will add to any existing threads if they are related to that thread, i have only just realised that if i add to a thread it then becomes seen as new, i thoght they just got lost in the list of old threads, i am very sorry and can see what you all mean.

Sorry Simon or daft Simon.

Sorry Simon - Have family round just at the moment.

Try going to each of your threads and copying the info into word or notebook.

Once you have it all together - sort all the info - everything which has been found on all family members, then paste it back into just one thread.

If you can't sort it I will look again tomorrow,

Best wishes,

New message to Dea

From Simon

Hi Dea, I note Francis is spelt with e but it's Donley not Donelly

Any thoughts

..................

my reply:

Things were often spelled incorrectly - not everyone was 'literate' in those days and things were written down as spoken.

I still think this is most probably the correct marriage, unless you know otherwise?

Can you reply on the thread rather than pm so that other people trying to help can also see the info. - It is also easier for you as you don't have to send out so many seperate replies.

To do this, click on the purple 'reply' button at the top of your thread and type the new info in the box then click submit.

I will post your info on there to help the others searching.

Best regards,

Dea x

Simon,

This is the only marriage between 1895 and 1930 in Sheffield which 'fits'.

I cannot find them on 1911 - Do you know if they may have gone back to Ireland or did they remain in Sheffield area?

I have found the birth of my GGGmother Francis Donley in Sheffield 1886.
In 1901 she was living in the house of Albert Ernest Howard and show as sister in Law but it does not show a sister just some lodgers. this means she had a sister but i can't find the sister, mother or father and may be even more siblings.

I also have found her marrage to John Rochford in 1905 then nothing, so i know of her birth and marrage but nothing before living in 1901 and nothing after her marrage in 1905.

Any ideas would be great, lots of people helped me find the above info and they have been fantastic.but i just can't find more about Francis Donley.

Thank you Simon

Hi Barbara.

Thats really good thank you, i can rule Clara out as she was wood, i can rule the lady called Reid at same address as Francis in 1901.

So why was Albert Howard ,Francis Donley's sister in law in 1901 well if Francis had a sister that married Alberts brother or if Francis had a brother who married a sister of Albert Howard.

I can't find any information on Francis Having a brother or sister. and i cant even find her mum and dad.

A big mystery!

Thank you for helping me rule out Clara Howard nee wood.

Regards Simon.

Hi Simon
Frances Donley is the sister in law of William Reid Eda is her sister.
I will try now to explain how I came to this

1881
John Donley 1852 a Tailor born Manchester
Sarah wife 1851 Manchester
Cad 1873 Manchester

1891
John Downing I am sure this should be Donley born 1852 Tailor Manchester
Edea 1874 Oldham
John 1882 Sheffield
Francis 1883 Sheffield
Catherine 1885 Sheffield
Estey 1887 Sheffield

Next door lived the Reid family
James Reid 1831 East Leake Notts
Mary wife Notts
William 1872 Attercliffe Sheffield
Lottie 1879 Sheffield
Frank A 1876 Sheffield
Harry 1883 Sheffield

1901 This is the one we already have with Albert Howard
William Reid 1873 Sheffield
Eda 1873 Wife Oldham
Annie 1896
Elizabeth 1900

It was Eda name spelt different way that was the clue and where she was born
I cannot find the marriage certs for them
The Reids are also on the 1911 census
I hope this makes sense and if you need anything else please let me know
