Helloooooooo peeps,

Home again home again jiggerdy jig.

Hey Sylvia from Da Canada does that site have a Derbyshire search facility?......>
You know ...... that site that EVERYONE is now engrossed in and leaving me on my own Booo Hooo...!

Hey I've found a way to save some money....I've tapped into next doors electricity supply and with the savings I'm getting a three month Ancestry subscription he he

George Ricotte Dore..........Where does the Name Ricotte come from? Is it Italian? Spanish? Usually you name your kids after a family member am I right?? Well I think Luke Doar has named his son after his most loved CHEESE, no wonder he changed it to Reginald. And oh yes ' that ' cheese is spelled Ricotta is that right?

So what's going on there then kids??

It's all your fault Sylvia

Now how do you find those Welsh non-conformist records? I know I saw a ref at some point but can't find it now.

Robert - If they don't include Monmouthshire I will be back!

If anyone finds John Davies b 1840, Lllanasa, Flintshire, son of Peter and quarryman, I'd like his baptism and any possible marriage.

Rob, for Derbyshire you need Derek:

http://www.genesreunited.co.uk/boards.page/board/tips_board/thread/1091204

Tell him I don't think he's been busy enough lately. He's known as the Bard of Matlock Records Office and lives in a tent in the car park.

George Ricotte was probably a mate of my Joe Dallorzo - he lived in Derbyshire for a while too, same sort of age. Derek'll find George for you.

Madmeg Report 17 Jan 2011 21:27

Doesn't one of those "other" family search sites have good coverage of Cheshire? The Beta one maybe (if it's still there). I have some CDs of Cheshire records, if anyone cares to pm me.

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 17 Jan 2011 21:32

MM

Cheshire is where OH lived, BUT his parents were born in Yorkshire and Wales, and moved to Chester after they married

so thank you for your offer

but I really really need Yorkshire, Westmorland, and who knows where in Wales?!

as well as Lancashire & Buckinghamshire for my lot

Well I've been trawling Sylvia's site to try and find that death for Henry Snape that Ann found 'Deaths Jun 1875 -Snape Henry 46 Prestwich 8d 246. Unfortunately he isn't listed under any of the three parishes. It's great though - even if you don't know which church it's so much easier than at the records office, having to load those reels and clank them round, trying to stop at the right place etc.

I don't think the first death can be him as he gave his father as Henry on the marriage and that ones father is listed as Thomas.

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 17 Jan 2011 21:35

Ann

I had gone back to the first page, clicked on Europe, and was scrolling down looking at the records listed for England, when I saw

England and Wales, Non-Conformist Record Indexes (RG4-8)

There's also

England, Cheshire Non-conformist Records, 1671-1900

and lots and lots of other goodies!

Gosh, I am upset that my family are Scottish and Irish but OH's Gran was from Sussex and some of his Angus family went to Leeds. After 30 years I have probably spent my hard earned cash on English and Irish certificates when, if I had waited until now I could have spent it on a wee hauf or two.
