That is a shame, was really excited that we had cracked it then.

Thanks for using your credit to do that.

No worries we're all kind of in deep here, but it's not our family we can't solve :( so anything small to get an answer is worth it :)

someone refresh me....

We are currently looking for the death of Edwin/Edward Livermore.... born we believe in 1882, in service from 1900 til 1912 when pensioned out and then he vanishes? he has 3 siblings?

Ann did it list his address when he left the Army?

Wayne

No address given, apart from his parents address on the Army record. I thought Kew didn't have pension registers for those discharged due to disability, for 1912, which is what their research guide says, but read in a book today that they do, so next time I go, will check!

I have just read this thread from beginning to end and it is brilliant the way everyone has heped Dionne.

It is interesting that the the 2 sisters who were adopted and Dionnes father who was in a children's home ALL had the fathers name left blank on their birth registrations. But Jean who it is assumed wasn't adopted had Herbert Sloper as the father.

HI Dionne

There is a personal tree named the 'Kendrick Family' tree on Ancestry with Dorothea M Livermore born 1908 London. You have to contact the owner for more information.

Good evening everyone.

It seems quite a few of you have. been busy on my behalf.I thank you all.

Nicola.... As much as I would love it to be the Edwin that you have found,I dont think it is him.

Edwin was born in 1884 and his parents were William Livermore and Sarah Ann Harvey. You also have Edwin Frank Livermore. We know his name to be Edwin William Livermore.

He had two daughters. On their marriage certificates they have their father down as deceased in 1910 and 1939.

I did get eccited when I read Florance because he had a sister called Florance. But unfortunately that is where the similarities end. But again Nicola thankyou so much for all of your hard work.

Ann... Again a big thankyou for when you go back to Kew.Fingers crossed.

Wayne... Edwin only had the two children. Both girls.
I will go back and re check the deaths for civilians just in case he did go back to canada once he was discharged.

Wendy.. Unfortunately the Kendrick family tree is mine.
I have ordered Edwins birth certificate today to confirm I do have the correct parents which I am sure I do.

Thankyou everyone back to searching again for a few hours.

Hi Dionne

I found this death which I think could be a previously unknown brother of Dorothea - or her father.

Edwin William Livermore - dob 14 Sep 1911 - Death Q4 1972 Hillingdon.

I've searched 1909 - 1913 for a birth for the above Edwin and.....yep you've guessed....there isn't one! But it could open up another line of living relatives who might know something about the family.

The other alternative is that it is Dorothea's fathers death. I know it doesn't sound possible but believe me I've just had one like it myself: I knew the death I was looking for was in 1961 and I knew the age was 84 - on the death cert his age is recorded as 63! with a note in the margin with the correct age, so it does happen!

Dionne i didn't suggest Edwin/Edward went to Canada.... i suggested he went back to Africa!

My query is... what if he came home and left his children and their mother in SA? His only purpose for coming home was to be discharged and then he went straight back to SA? Maybe taking up a job within the british 'establishment'. As we know nothing of the chidrens formative years, if Edwin/Edward did die young, and his wife was probably an English daughter abroad, she may well have 'come home'?

which would beg the question, are there inbound ships records we can browse through?

Is that something Kew would have Ann?

Mary

This sounds interesting - perhaps another child.

Just found out that the Kew leaflet is wrong-they DO have pension registers for those discharged due to disability up to 1913, so will look at that next time!

Hi Ann

Yes, that's what I thought when I saw it :-)

I'm inclined to think that it is a brother because of the dob given - but anything is possible.

Hi Mary

I am really really confused now. I could accept that it might be a brother to Dorothea and Edith but the birth date is 1911.On Dorotheas marriage certificate she has her father down as deceased in 1910. I dont understand how you think it might be Edwins death as he was born in 1884 and the death is recorded as 1972 forty years after Dorotheas marriage certificate saying father deceased.
I do really appreciate the help you are giving me.Thankyou so much.

Wayne. Come on you know me by now...lol. I did mean to say Africa and not Canada, lol.

Ok so now we both pass... whats next?? lol

Should we be trying to fill in the years prior to Dorothea having her children?

Contrary Mary

Contrary Mary Report 4 Nov 2007 18:20

Hi Dionne

As I said - I do actually think that it is most likely to be a brother of Dorothea.

I also know from experience that people don't always tell the truth on their marriage certs - fathers are said to be dead when they are very much alive, or alive when they are dead etc!! All depends on the people and the circumstances at the time I guess.

Mary

Edited: Sorry - just noticed that she says her father was dead by 1910.
