Mike. The Leicester Lad.(GC) Report 27 Apr 2009 06:11

Greeting’s Again. ….. Sylvia.

Just using my resources to hand. …….

I did not spot a Baptism for Adam Underwood c 1742.

But can confirm the Marriage 1767. ….
But it was at the Parsh Church of TWYFORD :~

St: Andrew’s Parish Church of Twyford cum Thorpe Satchville.

Adam Underwood. :~ Mary Robinson.
12th. April. 1767.
Both of Thorpe Satchville.
By Banns.

Adam & Mary had 9 Children.

BUT……….

There was another Marriage before this one ………..
So was the above marriage Adam’s SECOND Marriage in fact ?

ANNO DOMINI MARRIAGES :~ 1754.
Adam Underwood. ~ Mary Bates.
25.th. April.
St: Andrew’s Parish Church. Twyford.
By Banns.

This Marriage of Adam & Mary produced 6 Children.:~

BURIAL :~
1766.
St: Andrew’s Parish Church Twyford.
Mary Underwood.
25th. November. NO age given. …..

Other Burials of note found :~

1813.
St: Andrew’s Parish Church.
Parish Burial Registration No’. 1.
Adam Underwood.
Abode. ..Thorpe Satchville.
19th. August.
AGED. 85.( Which makes birth c 1722. )

1886.
Parish Reg No’. 708.
Adam Underwood.
Abode. …Thorpe Satchville.
6th. November.
Aged. 70.

So going on the c age for the 1st Adam’s burial ….
Then that 1st Marriage was possible making his age 26
And then 39 for 1767.

Thank you so much Mike,

I hadn`t thought of a second marriage and did know about that earlier marriage, but all the trees in all the places, have that as his fathers marriage. Oops maybe not????

Which meant Adam IF born 1742, was about 13 when he sired his first child, not impossible though.

Can you confirm these baptisms for me please, all Twyford/Thorpe Satchville

Adam with Mary Bates (IGI has Batts)
Adam (not found) this is the 1742 one ??
Ann ..1 Aug 1754 (IGI submitted)
Munk..24 Oct 1756
William ..5 Nov 1758
Mary..12 Aug 1760 (IGI submitted)
Margaret ..28 Nov 1762

Adam with Mary Robinson
Alice ..c1765 (no baptism found, but may not be theiirs)??
Rebekah..18 Oct 1867
Thomas..1 Jan 1769
Joseph..25 Jun 1770
Adam..6 Dec 1772 (my 3x great grandfather)
Elizabeth..26 Mar 1775
Frances.. 19 Jan 1777
Lyddy..28 May 1780
William..23 Feb 1783
John..24 July 1785

As you can see i have 10 children for the second? marriage, looks like i have 1 too many if there should be 9, another oops.

Many, many thanks for your help.

Hi Mike,

Sorry for the delay,

I have a couple of names:
Lucy Halford
Harry or Henry Halford - They were both alive in 1911, so it narrows it down a bit.

I don't know if it gives you the parents info, but Lucy and Henry (sometimes called Harry) Halford had quite a few children who died between census. So could you look for children who were born and died between approx 1895 - 1911?

Thank you for your help,

Vicky X

Hi Mike,

Sorry, I'm looking into my friends family and I had to get some more info.

Yes, that is them,

Harry Halford born c1863
Lucy Halford (nee Fisher) born c1875

There is a big gap between 2 of their children, Lucy born 1900 and William born 1908, so I think this is where a couple of other children might fit. In 1911 it says they have had 9 children, but 5 of them have died.

Many thanks for your help,

Vicky

Hi again Mike,

I`m still trying to figure out if there was 1 or 2 marriages for Adam Underwood (1728)

Have now noticed there are 2 William Underwoods one in each group of the children 1758 +1783

Was wondering if there is a death/burial for the one born c1758 Twyford/Thorpe Satchville please, which may or may not help in some way.

Thank you for your help

Hello again Mike

I'm still chasing up the Wells family and wondered if you wouldn't mind checking out the buriel of an Ada Wells in 1911, think she could be connected to my Wells family.

Many thanks
