I never did watch the Tudors Maggie, let us know if you enjoy it.

Theresa isn't it sad how quickly they want to grow up. I think TV has a lot to answer for there. Our Granddaughter is 7 going on 17!!

Hello Ann and everyone else too. What a good thread this is. Some of you might know me and some might not, but I've been on here since 2003. Don't tend to get on here that often now, sorry to say that I prefer facebook. I used to be on here several times a day, but the nastiness put me off. I tend to look in once every day or two now.

Better introduce myself now! My name is Maggy (bet you'd never have guessed) and I live in Featherstone, West Yorkshire. I am 50 ish !! and have 2 grown up kids (and one hubby). My son got married last month and we had a lovely day and my daughter gets married in January 2011.

Anyone who knows me and wants to add me to their facebook friends please pm me.
Maggy xx

Hello Maggie, thank you for popping in. I can't seem to get to grips with Facebook although I have loads of friends on there. Don't like all the additional groups and things which I find off putting, every time I 'visit' I have loads to delete

Hi Ann, and everyone

How lovely to see this thread still going, and growing stronger.

We got back from sis-in-law's yesterday. The weather wasn't bad up north ........... it was about -20C when we arrived, but after that day it warmed up a bit, never got below about -11C at night or above about -8C during the day. That is actually quite warm for up there! There was quite a lot of snow on the ground, although we only had a sprinkling while we were there. But of course, they are all used to snow as there is usually snow on the ground from at least early November throuhg until April.

Christmas dinner was at my niece's house ...... she and her husband have just moved back to that town when husband changed his job so he could be home every night (his previous job had him away at least 4 days a week every week), and enjoy their little one. There were 16 adults and 1 little one. Niece cooked the turkey (17 lbs), and others brought everything else. We took the Christmas pudding ...... OH cooked it then froze it until last week. People also had to take extra chairs, plates, cutlery, wineglasses etc!!! Niece had 2 large tables, and a large enough area in the dining/kitchen for them to be placed end to end so we could all sit in the same place to eat.

It was a chaotic day, but fun.

I was born in Oldham, and my brother's widow still lives in Dukinfield .......... so we have been watching the weather news with interest.

OH is from Chester ................. but is most proud of the fact that he was actually born in Wales. His mother was Welsh, and went to a nursing home in a little village just outside Chester for his birth ................. it was then in Wales, but within a couple of years the border was moved and the village is now in England. Not sure if that makes him more or less Welsh!

Hi all,

Will let you know when I get round to reading the book Teresa. Stavros and his son were on the Gordon Ramsay programme last evening.

Yes the air was a little blue when I realised why my skirt and legs were wet as I got into the car, I hadn't realised the silly woman had filled the hyacinth jars to the top with water, half an inch would have done for the fete. The pink flower is coming out well and smelling nice now so I have forgiven her the blunder!

Must get ready for bed in a mo. off to meet our Marilyn this afternoon if I can get the bus, o.h. needs the car as it's raining rather hard!

love to all

How funny. I don't post very often any more and I was just going through my old threads as I was bored and I noticed lots of lovely people who posted back then are still posting now. And then i read this thread. What a coincidence.

Happy New year all

Keith, (or Hoff) are you Keith in a Kilt?

Saw a thread a little while ago about Scottish Clans. Was already several pages long and had been going quite a while, so didn't get round to seeing if the Scottish surnames from my tree were included.

Hi Ann and everyone

It's raining and about 4C here!

OH had the car in for a regular service and tune-up this morning .... he had hoped to do it before Christmas but didn't get round to it! They've just phoned to say it is ready ......... so he'll go and collect it, then we'll think about doing a shop-in so we don't have to do it tomorrow.

I want to get the nicest piece of steak that the butcher in the supermarket has on display. We bought some a few months ago for a special meal .................. it was pricy, but we don't actually eat much, but it literally melted in your mouth and was soooooooooooooooooooo good! I think it was better than any we could have bought at a restaurant. I don't really know any better way to choose a nice piece than price .............. I've never been very successful at getting a named cut!

Off for a mooch round the boards and threads

Norma, I love the name "Glossy Ann" and will think of her like that in future (I hope you don't mind Ann).

Like some others on here, I am a member of Ann's reading group "GReaders"
well worth a dekko.
I quite enjoy it, and we don't get lines or detention for not doing our homework. (in my day it was the cane!)

Hope everyone has a Happy New Year.

Hi Ann,

Its Sylvia from MK. Had to change to Sylvia G, as I was reading some threads and noticed a few Sylvias on there and did not want to be mistook for one of them.
Happy new year. XX
