Anyone in Devon? We are due to travel down the M5 and on to torquay on Friday. Hoping it will be OK although I believe Bristol had snow yesterday.

Patricia Report 1 Dec 2010 15:03

North Nottinghamshire , 1500hrs, had more snow overnight so we've about 18" outside now, managed to get into work this afternoon quite easily once I got out of our estate, and I don't have a 4x4 either. The gritters had been out and the local farmers are running about with thier tractors helping to keep roads clear
Passenger train cancelled between Sheffield and Lincoln due to mainly fallen trees, but I'm here as they are hoping to run coal into the local power stations, although I've been told they may have to run a snow plough through first! Thats a first for me in 22 years on the railway

Oh and Lincoln Christmas Market [this weekend] has been cancelled, first time in 28years that has happened
Stay safe and keep warm
Patricia:)

Aberdeen 4.30 pm

We have had it since last wednesday and I am sick of it .Have yet to see a snow plough !!!!

Had to go into town yesterday and our main street had snow and ice and was very dangerous so you can imagine the side streets .

Have had to clear the drive every day though I don't know why I bother as there is no way I would drive in this .

Keep safe and warm everyone

Klara Report 1 Dec 2010 17:35

17:31 East Kent, just outside Dover
Bitterly cold all day - had to be at work for 0700 today and managed to negotiate way off estate in 4x4, solid icy crushed compacted snow. Picked up kids from school - totally disgusted with council as car park near school, footpath to school and road outside not gritted again, all compacted ice, accident waiting to happen. Fine snow off and on all day and strong winds whipping lying snow off fields. Still no heating hopefully be fixed tomorrow pm which will be 8 days since boiler packed up - not a happy bunny.

Dear All

Hello

Hope you are all okay.

In London, no snow, some ice.

Allright, don't throw snowballs at me!

At the local Sainsburys, people were panics buying.
Good grief.

Take gentle care
Very best wishes

Jean (Monmouth) Report 1 Dec 2010 19:20

7.14 pm we have snow laying here, but not a lot. The roads are clear, even our cul-de-sac, as OH went down to the slope at the entrance and gritted the road there so vehicles could get up. He does this every year though he is disabled and 75. The young just wont see in front of their noses.
The mobile library which comes every three weeks managed to get here today, which is a miracle. The first sign of trouble and the van goes off the road. We are lucky compared to other parts of the country, but I see looking out, that the tyre tracks in the road are covered again Temp 0.2 ouside my window.

Grabagran Report 1 Dec 2010 21:02

Still snowing on the outskirts of Edinburgh and hardly any buses running.
We've had about 3ft to date and more still to come!!!!
Schools to remain closed til Monday at the earliest.

Gritters only doing main roads so far as they can, and a village in Midlothian closed off.
No need for a snow machine here lololol

Kitty~~~

That was very kind of you,I don't have a spare room , but like you would have offered them refuge .

It's1.50am here in S Wales near Ebbw Vale, last snow we had was about 3pm about an inch, but it was minus 5 degrees at 9am this morning with a bitter wind.:(

It's now minus one ( just brought the thermomater in .lol) Cloudy sky.

Dau has to drive to work tomorrow and she's not looking forward to it, she normally goes with her dad, as they work in the same town.
I had to get to used to driving in bad weather very quickly having to transport my children to mil when I was at work, and it doesn't bother me ,
